The Qatar Football (Soccer) World Cup 2022

Not the men any time soon.  Soccer has become THE woman's sport in the US, thanks to Title IX and suburban culture taking an interest and creating club teams.  Soccer will not be able to siphon male athletes from basketball and football because that's where the glory and money lives.  Fans in the US want dunks, bombs, and big hits.  To most of them, and me, soccer is too much running around, not scoring, and falling down acting hurt over nothing.  Too much would have to change.

Short answer:  this team doesn't have the offense.

When they get back home, they will probably be charged with "lascivious acts" or something stupid.

Treason, given that they all joined in protests during the World Cup.

Wondering if this board will be as busy about the World Rugby Cup next year.

Probably not.

This is the chief difference in the mindset between football players and rugby players. Footballers fake injuries to get a favourable call; ruggers try to his real injuries so they can keep playing.

Rugby has a World Cup? Hopefully, it's only every 4 years (or, more).

Since when is "hat trick" a soccer term?  Soccer fans don't even wear hats.

Soccer means association football; just call it "football".

Nope, I didn't peel all those orange slices, rush to the fields after work, give up Saturdays, and coach a sport I knew nothing about to call it anything but soccer.  Football is what I played as a kid, not soccer.

After looking it up, "hat trick" originally comes from cricket, not hockey as I thought.

Yes. The last one (2019) was a travesty as the best rugby team in the world placed third.
