As I have said before it's the principle, not the object.

Books are not the same as cars

Again books are not the same as cars
Quote:Books are an entirely different thing. They just contain data. So, turn it into a DOC, ODT, PDF file. Make as many copies as you like and delete it as you like.
Again it's the principle not the object.
Which principle are you talking about?

The general principle is that generally, the only people who burn books are religious fundamentalist nutters or fascists and that we really shouldn't be emulating them. If you don't like a book don't read it. You don't have to burn it.

There could be other reasons for burning a book.
Maybe the book comes from a politician you don’t like or you don’t like his politics and you want to send a message.
Maybe the book comes from someone who hates LGBT and you don’t like his politics/opinions and you want to send a message.
Maybe the book comes from someone who wants to pollute and destroy the ecology and you are against his politics/opinions and you want to send a message.
I don’t know the details who the Koran burner in Sweden is. Maybe he doesn’t want foreigners in his country, maybe he finds that his culture is under attack by high level of immigration, maybe he has heard about the interactions between christians and muslims in the past and present and so, he doesn’t like all muslim people.
Maybe he is in front of the turkish embassy since he has a problem with the politics of that country.
He needs to listen to his heart and do the right thing and if he needs to get his message across by burning the Koran, that is fine.
The rules to get your message across is not set in stone.
Example:
Some people want to form a union, block passage to the Ford factory until Ford listens to the demands of the employees.
Sometimes, you need to set a few cars on fire, cut the electric lines, etc.
But at least, none of these guys are suddenly escalating it into murders.

There is no reason to burn books
Quote:Maybe the book comes from a politician you don’t like or you don’t like his politics and you want to send a message.
Burning books is not a valid way to protest politicians. Refute their ideas don't burn books.
Quote:Maybe the book comes from someone who hates LGBT and you don’t like his politics/opinions and you want to send a message.
Burning books is not a valid way to defend LGBT rights. Defend LGBT right don't burn books.

Burning books is not valid to save the planet. Pushing for green initiatives is
It's not right to burn a book simply because you dislike the message instead work against the message.

None of those reasons are either valid or a reason to burn a book.

That's equal to burning books.

I understand your POV.
My POV is that it is ok to burn books. People can protest using the style that they want, as long as they don’t harm other people and other people’s property.

I have a problem with people who complains about specific books being burned mainly because they like the fact that the book in question tells them to go burn other books, Or to desecrate other people’s cultural heritages.

Burning a book to prevent other people from reading it is an admission that you fear the ideas presented in it and how persuasive you think they are.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
