The point, of course, is that a great deal of the supposed Russian malevolence reported in the US media was fiction.

Because people have been trained to expect nothing but malevolence from Russia it disposes them to believe fiction.

RE: Trump and Russia
Russia pretty much lost the war in Ukraine. Their only hope now is trolls and useful idiots to maybe help to elect their asset, Donald Trump, who never stops with his shameless demonstrations of allegiance to them. Like a few days ago

Quote:Donald Trump Says He Trusts Putin More Than U.S. Intelligence 'Lowlifes'

In a post on Truth Social, the former president referenced comments he gave after meeting with Putin in Helsinki, Finland, in 2018 when he said that he didn't "see any reason" why Russia would have meddled in the 2016 election, despite what the FBI stated.

Trump once again suggested he trusts Putin over U.S. intelligence while sharing an a article about former FBI official Charles McGonigal, a leading figure in the FBI's investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to Russia ahead of the 2016 election.

McGonigal was recently arrested on suspicion of a number of offenses, including working with a sanctioned Russian oligarch.

Trump has repeatedly been criticized for siding with Putin both as president and since he left the White House.

In 2018 following his defense of the Russian president in Helsinki, then Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said that "in the entire history of our country, Americans have never seen a president of the United States support an American adversary" in the way Trump has Putin.

Trump was also condemned, including by members of his own party, for comments he made about Putin ahead of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking on the Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show in February 2022, Trump described Putin's tactic of recognizing two self-proclaimed republics in eastern Ukraine and sending Russian troops to the regions under the guise of "peacekeeping operations" as "genius" and "very savvy."

Trump doubled down on his praise of the Russian president, telling a crowd at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida that Putin was "pretty smart" as he had "taken over a country for $2 worth of sanctions" just as the invasion of Ukraine was being carried out.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

My dad grew up in Soviet Russia, under Stalin (My extended Family was living in Soviet Russia until 1990). He worked for the US army after going to Germany. He hates americans, tinks they are all stupid. To this day my dad fancies all things russian and i pay for concert tickets n stuff.

I dont hate Russia, but i pity the Russians who have had to live for generations under incompetent, authoritarian and utterly corrupt regimes. These people deserve better. I am working with several russians in office. Once i fell in love with a russian gal even.

But what would you know about all these things, or why would a prick as self absorbed as you even care, sitting up there in your ivory tower lying your pathetic little ass off for pathetic self gratification. Jerkoff

That brilliant transactional mind at work.  Like in a real estate deal..where the man who walks off with the biggest bag of cash is the winner..and everyone else was a mark or a sucker.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. True. Nor does it negate the damage of an unapologeticly partisan and corrupt media. Haven't heard much from Code Pink lately and the anti-war bumper stickers are starting to fade and peel. And unlike the miguided and costly Iraqi war, escalation to nuclear conflict is a very real possibility.

RE: Trump and Russia
There was never any threat of escalation to nuclear war in iraq. I don't think there is here, either...but if so, seems like something you'd have to take up with the man rattling the sabre. Probably would be nice to settle the question of whether we're going to put up with that argument. If a person or a government can simply threaten to kill more or other people, if anyone does anything to prevent them from killing the first group of people. Less dramatically, whether this hostage taking model also works in domestic politics.

I don't think that's workable, what do you think?
