Lost Love (poem)

Lost Love (poem)
A work in progress right now, but this just came to me tonight.

I get so weak thinking about you
My mind won't let me forget our love
The mist rises in my head
Remembering passions we wove
From the depths of our loins.
"Never trust a fox. Looks like a dog, behaves like a cat."

Second part:

Forgetting comes easy for some
But pain of loss is my reward
Stabbing my heart forever
While thoughts propel me forward
Where dream and delusion rejoins.
"Never trust a fox. Looks like a dog, behaves like a cat."

Part three (chorus):

Come back to me
Ride on easy air
Find your way
Without a care
Fly into my arms
My white dove
Let us forget
All this lost love.
"Never trust a fox. Looks like a dog, behaves like a cat."

Part four:

Years and ages since our parting
Hasn't extinguished this fire
Ever stoked by your caress
A contact I wish to rehire
From wild and forsaken nights.
"Never trust a fox. Looks like a dog, behaves like a cat."

Part five and chorus:

As it happened, life took place
An unclimbable wall advanced
Faster than we could anticipate
While we twirled and danced
Around regrettable, undeniable plights.

Come back for us
Ride on easy air
Find your way
If you then dare
Run into my arms
Make the move
Let us recall
Our lost love.
"Never trust a fox. Looks like a dog, behaves like a cat."

Finale:

Our affection was put to rest
With overflowing sadness and tears
Only to be awakened achingly
When our anniversary nears
That unforgettable wedding.

I don't regret anything we did
Our love wasn't a mistake
Even our harrowing goodbye
Wasn't misconstrued as fake
That bitter time of departing.

Come back, come back
Ride on the easy air
Find us once again
As the loving pair
Embrace me tonight
Moon shining above
Remake our world
With sweet lost love.
"Never trust a fox. Looks like a dog, behaves like a cat."

I wasn't expecting to write this or even finish it tonight, but I did. The emotion has been building for a very long time, and this was the best way I could think of to express it.

He knows who he is.

I hope you heal. In the meantime, maybe the greatest love poem ever written will help.

*****

To My Valentine, by Ogden Nash

More than a catbird hates a cat,
Or a criminal hates as clue,
Or the Axis hates the United States,
That's how much I love you.

I love you more than a duck can swim,
And more than a grapefruit squirts,
I love you more than gin rummy is a bore,
And more than a toothache hurts.

As a shipwrecked sailor hates the sea,
Or a juggler hates a shove,
As a hostess detests unexpected guests,
That's how much you I love.

I love you more than a wasp and sting,
And more than the subway jerks,
I love you as much as a beggar needs a crutch,
And more than a hangnail irks.

I swear to you by the stars above,
And below if such there be,
As the high court loathes perjurious oathes,
That's how you're loved by me.

I don't know why, but now I can't stop thinking about Treebeard reciting his poetry to Merry and Pippin.  Thinking
"The world is my country; all of humanity are my brethren; and to do good deeds is my religion." (Thomas Paine)

Trump love for cats, by Chat GTP AI.

Humorous Trump's Love for Cats

Trump loves to grab cats, it's true
Pet them and hold them, a purr-fect view
He'll cuddle and play, with such delight
Making those cats, feel oh so right

He's got a soft spot, for feline friends
And petting them, his favorite trend
With gentle strokes, and a twinkle in his eye
Trump and his cats, reach new heights of sky

It's not just a hobby, it's a passion
A love that brings joy and satisfaction
From tigers to tabbies, all shapes and sizes
Trump's love for cats, will always be surprises

So if you see him, with a cat in hand
Just know it's a moment, he'll always stand
With a smile so wide, and a heart so warm
Trump's love for cats, will never grow old or worn.
