Does this mean that someone who is really straight can "act" gay or believe they are gay for years only to realize that they have really been straight their whole life?

People have hidden their gayness for many years.  There's really no need for a straight person to act gay to fit into society.  In case you haven't noticed, it's not the heteros that are having issues with discrimination regarding their choice of partner.
