And according to Huggy, this person is a woman that belongs in a bathroom with his daughters.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Obviously walking into a single occupancy female restroom, is different than walking into a female restroom at the airport full of women.

Let me try again: what's your point?
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

  • Is it works with American themes? All right, what are American themes? Stuff like freedom? George Orwell and Friedrich Schiller wrote plenty about freedom without ever setting foot on American soil.
  • Works that take place in America? So, I guess that leaves out most of Hemingway's oeuvre. Including the story we're about to read.
  • Works written in America? So, I guess that makes this American.

What? Wodehouse wrote the novel it was based on in Long Island (and after he pretty much burned his bridges with his homeland after some... questionable broadcasts.)
  • Works written by Americans? That may be better. But that just leads to its own questions. For instance, does Raymond Chandler count as American literature? I mean, I've got his (largely) complete works from the Library of America, and he did commit some of the best descriptions of LA to paper in his time, but the damnedest thing: for most of his career (and I mean from decades before he became a writer to shortly before he died), he was actually a British subject. After he finally got his American citizenship back, the only things he wrote are an adaptation of an unproduced screenplay and four chapters of a new novel.
15 years later, I still don't have the sort of confident, succinct definition of "American Literature" that Huggy Bear seems to have of "woman."

American literature is Mark Twain.

Ironically, the course focused more on writers that were post-Twain.

Of course - Twain set the standard. Jumping into Twain’s writing head-on and without preparation is apt to cause serious injury.

It's amazing that literally no one is able to define what a woman is yet yall are all in agreement that the dictionary/ Wikipedia definitions are wrong.🤣

We're at the point now where trans women are more woman than biological women🤣

Problem solved then.  Everyone can use the bathroom they choose.

We can now move on.

A dictionary definition is a mere simplification, not an absolute or wrong. Life expands beyond definitions, which is why it is absurd to state that a woman is reduced to a basic definition.

Evidently, some people prefer a simple, but flawed definition to a more complicated, but accurate definition. Or even the possibility that some ideas don't actually have a totally accurate definition. For more information, see, well, most any Platonic dialogue, particularly the earlier dialogues where Socrates never exactly gets to a definition. Plato becomes a lot less intriguing when he actually arrives at a conclusion, since the ones he settles on are rarely satisfying.
