Like when he created evil: "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things." isaiah 45 7
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

God does not act like stalin.

Stalin is a very kind and generous mass murderer who is done with the millions he murdered as soon as he is done murdering them.      He has no beef with their resting for eternity in peace.    Not so god.    When god murdered billons with tremendous savagery, he has hardly begun to torture them.   Torture infinitely more savage and unending awaits them.

So, if only god can be like stalin, the afterlife would be a true worker’s paradise instead of gothic eternal horror.

On balance, if I had to pick a tyrant whom God acts like, it'd be Mussolini: proposing an unworkable system requiring compliance with ridiculous rules in the hope of a non-existent reward.

Prayer is turning to God for His will to be done and to provide comfort and guidance in our time of need.  It's also to go to Him in gladness, thankfulness for provision, etc.  Like a toddler that looks to their parent for everything.

Thats really, really hard to live by. On one hand you have f up world, on other hand Bibles promises, that doesn't add up often.

Also:

If you didn't worship Stalin, you got sent to GULag, never to be rehabilitated. If you don't worship God, you get sent to hell for all time.

If you're the first to stop applauding Stalin, others will notice and report you to Stalin if he hasn't already noticed. If you walk away from your faith, your former fellows will notice and tell folks.

If you do great stuff, Stalin took the credit. If you do good woks, that's the power of God™ working through you.

Stalin issued orders punishable by death if they were not followed. God issues orders that are punishable by death if not followed.

We could go on.
