I won't actually be starting it for a couple of weeks.

I ordered 15 pounds of Russett Potatoes, which I'll be picking up with my other groceries tomorrow. I still have to bring my favorite stew pot down from the attic. I plan to clean and boil 5 pounds of potatoes at a time. In addition to the potatoes, I'll also be having an occasional garden salad with low-fat dressing or a bowl of stewed tomatoes with cottage cheese.

Yukon do this!
Sacrifice a virgin (available at any Trek convention) to a god of your choice (the Aztec gods are a good option, though you may have to have someone help you hold the sacrifice down while you cut the still beating heart from his chest), and demand that the god bless you with weight loss.
If (when) that doesn't work, keep consulting your doctor while on the diet, as you have been already.

I'm not sure about making it into a full-blown diet, but I am aware that you can live on two gallons of milk and 8 pounds of potatoes per day and get every dietary need but molyndenium. But then again, those quantities probably wouldn't be too conducive to weight loss.

I didn't know that was a diet. We just called it being poor. Yukons are delicious, I'm partial to the little creamers myself.
