RE: Genesis
My son has a half sister named Genesis. I knew her father was an idiot after a couple years with him but apparently her mother isn't much brighter.

Hopefully she will tell her friends is pronounced 'genius'.

Why is there "numerical data" in the flood story?

The dimensions of the Ark?

"After 17 days of the 2nd month ..."?

When I first read the Bible ... when I came to this ... I thought:

"It's a MAP of a voyage!"

So where did the Ark sail from and go to?

Answer: It went from Heliopolis to Patmos.

2,200 BC or so. A movement of people from Egypt during the chaos that followed the collapse of the Egyptian Old Kingdom.

The reference to Ararat suggests they later (generations later?) moved into the Black Sea.

... then, maybe, across into Northern Mesopotamia and then (as "Abraham") back to Egypt.

A round trip over several generations?

Whoever wrote Revelations may have known about this map.

There is "numerical data" in the biblical deluge narrative because...in the clearest case of literary borrowing in all of magic book - those details variously appeared in the three identifiable and still extant sources from which the story came. It's not a map, it's an obsession with numerology. Not that different from believing in hidden messages in the text of any kind, like a map.

RE: Genesis
The reason why there are dimensions for the ark in Genesis is because there are dimensions for the ark in Gilgamesh since the authors of Genesis plagiarised Gilgamesh. So the Ut-Napishtim’s ark, built at the direction of the Sumerian god, Ea, was a cube 180 feet on each side, with a total volume of a little over 5,800,000 cubic feet. Noah’s ark was only a little over a quarter as voluminous as Ut-Napishtim’s.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Frank Herbert gives dimensions for spice-lighters in Dune.

It follows that Muad'Dib is God.

RE: Genesis
Noah's was 600 years old at the time of the flood ... a circle with a circumference of 600 units

The length of the Ark is 300 cubits ... a semicircle of 300 units

The width of the Ark is 50 units.

The height of the Ark is 30 units .... the units here are DEGREES.

... and we have the geometrical shape used by the Egyptians to represent a boat.

This shape is used by other numbers in the story to map the voyage.

Whoever wrote this was able to accurately determine latitude and longitude.

There are other instances in Genesis of the work of someone who was a sophisticated mathematician who had access to accurate maps. The story of Noah being naked and drunk is a map. Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth .. and the cloak that covered Noah's nakedness are geographical locations.

As an atheist I am of the opinion that ATHEIST THINKERS had a major role in the creation of Old Testament Biblical texts.
