What are you watching on Youtube?

Acting awards used to mean something. Not anymore.

Given that major acting awards - Oscars, BAFTAs, Emmys, etc - are intensely lobbied for by studios and performers, I agree.

I think they should split the acting awards - one for actors and one for movie stars.

TV hosts discovering in real time that D in 'Ride the D' could mean something else than just a train line.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Thank fuck the CTA names their lines after colours and not letters. I've never heard people use "Red Line" &c as a euphemism for genitalia. The closest thing I can imagine to something unseemly would be "Ride the White Line," but we don't have a White Line.

Actually, what this is reminding me of more that I think of it is an interview Wentworth Miller gave to some morning talk show to promote Prison Break. His character was named T-Bag and it turned out that the hosts didn't know what teabagging was. And Miller actually tried to explain what it was; as soon as the hosts figured out the nature of the explanation, they cut to commercial. In related news, Wentworth Miller ended up coming out as autistic about a decade later. As an autistic man myself, that definitely tracks.

In a similar vein, the character Hannah Montana was originally to be named ‘Alexis Texas’, until it was pointed out to the studio that that was also the name of a rather well known porn actress.

Maybe they thought a Tennessee accent sounded closer to Texan than Montanan.

The story of a depraved filmmaker whose filmography seems to consist mostly of abuse, total control over deeply ill women, edgy shit, and vomit. Lots and lots of vomit (we don't see it here, but the films themselves make the dinner scene from Triangle of Sadness seem like the cleanest soiree ever.)

Also, a notice for any lip-readers here: One issue with the filmmaker in question is that he treats his abuse sessions like BDSM, and has released Behind-the-scenes footage where he explains that there's a safe word. However, he invariably redacts said safe word, possibly on the off chance that any footage comes out that shows him ignoring said safe word. But there's one vulnerability here: exactly 24 minutes in, we see one of these clips and, unlike the others, we have the actress saying the safe word. We don't hear said safe word, but we do clearly see her mouth moving.

It's a long shot, especially since people doubt that he would be dumb enough to release footage of such a scenario, and what we know is already damning enough, but I suspect any more nails in the coffin of Shawn "Lucifer Valentine" Fedorchuk (at least the ones that aren't just blatantly stalking) would be appreciated.
