Watching this video from a survivor of Michael and Debi Pearl's To Train Up a Child horseshit. Somehow, it's even worse than I knew.
One particular detail, about how this woman's parents created a paddle that they designed in such a way that it would whistle when it comes down reminded me of this scene from Lars Von Trier's The House that Jack Built. One where Jack, much to his guide to Hell's severe disgust, praises the Nazis' Stuka Bombers, specifically the sirens they made during their dive bombs to provoke terror in their victims.
This is the sort of thing where even my Jesse Custer meme doesn't seem like enough to display a suitable level of contempt.

And now for a less heavy video: the best way to mic a speaker cabinet, as told by Steve Albini.
The basics:
- Point the microphone at the center of the speaker (or some sort of equivalent for multi-speaker cabinets) one Holmes Unit* away from the cab.
- Best mic type to use: a bidirectional ribbon mic with a Figure 8 pattern. If there’s a more powerful side of the figure 8 pattern, use that side to pick up the amp, and the other side to pick up room echoes.
- Elevate the speaker cab to make it easier to mic.
* The Holmes Unit is an arcane unit of measurement most popular in Southern California in the 1970s and 1980s roughly equivalent to 12-14 inches. The exact length is unknown due to the original prototype being lost on 13 March 1988, but the most commonly cited conversion rate is 13.5 inches.

It's interesting how Derrida's concept of "unconditional hospitality" seems to echo some things in the bible, such as turning the other cheek.

It's mainly true crime and strange accidents etc. Some of it's really disturbing and haunting but at the same time incredibly engrossing. He also does stories about the occult, ghosts, paranormal stuff etc, but none of that's of any interest to me.
We watch that one pretty often, my SO loves it and he IS a good storyteller.

I watch something of his almost everyday. The SO likes the Casual Criminalist the most, I like a lot of his other channels, like Into the Shadows and Brain Blaze.

A case with such a strange set of perps will never not be fascinating. Especially trying to figure out what Russell Jones was trying to do with his demands, or even what movie he was trying to imitate.
That said, the True Crime channel I watch the most these days (if only because their videos are so long [due to taking the JCS route and heavily featuring the interrogations when possible], and they upload regularly) is Dreading: Crime and Psychology.
