Saitō Musashibō Benkei, an 11th century japanese warrior monk who single handed defended castle draw bridge against attempt by 500 soldiers to storm it. After half of the assault party perished against him, the attacking army decided to take him out with rains of arrows. But even though he was hit by many arrows and looked like a porcupine, he remained standing on the draw bridge barring entry.
Eventually the assault party gathered the courage to slowly approach the bridge again, but Benkai remained standing without any reaction. it turns out he is already dead, but remained standing possibly due to cataleptic rigidity.

Congenital analgesia does not make one a badass. one actually has to be feared for the bad things he does to be a badass.

^Unverified legends about one also don't qualify one for badassery.

one is probably no mean bad ass to start with if unverified legend can grow about one’s badassery. I highly doubt songs will ever be sung about my badassery even though i very much would like them to be.

And here I thought we were talking about badasses in
history, not folklore. Benkei's Horatius-at-the-bridge fable doesn't seem to qualify.

I can't accept the nomination.
