Money is tight, I got in an argument with a family member, and it seems like I'm getting three hours of sleep a night. Plus when you're in a weird mood, Christmas carols seem to have this sinister quality that I can't quite put into words. "This too shall pass", I know... but I'm glad you didn't notice any difference in my posts, Ig. That makes me feel better. RE: Random Thoughts

I have similar feelings for different reasons...
I'm so used to being busy, I feel a little lost in my holidays! I'm always trying to fill my time up around the house with work! Then I keep asking myself what exactly is the meaning of life if all I want to do is work. Bad habits die hard... The wife wants to go to the casino in our holidays! I keep telling her, save all the trouble and just send them a check instead! Lol.

My boyfriend has this thing about the winter holidays; I think it's the reason he decided to gamble away the money and quit his job so we could spend forty six days living in a car. Yay. He seriously needs to get over whatever winter holiday crap still affects him at the age of fifty.

At the trailer park where my boyfriend's son lives, this one guy was displaying a couple of flags: the southern confederate flag and some sort of NRA type gun flag. I have no idea how long the guy had the flags displayed, they were up and flying when we made our appearance at the beginning of November, but sometime in December the flags were taken down. I suppose someone finally complained and the guy was informed to stop displaying so many flags at the front of his property. The only flag he kept up was the average U.S. star and stripes flag.

Regardless of whether the subject of discussion is religion, politics, philosophy, or whatever, I think that it is important to resist the temptation to refer to people who think differently than me as deluded, lost, confused, mixed up or some other negative description: it is a very convenient way to ignore the existence of people who are different, and it is also an extremely effective tool for killing dialog; it ignores the people behind the positions and the underlying interests that are driving those positions, which ultimately inhibits an open/safe exchange of ideas. Hence, IMO, the traits of humility, patience, and great self-discipline are absolutely essential in order to increase one's awareness of dialog killing behaviors and to ultimately build bridges of understanding with those who are different.
True Story...
When asked about a "Flat Mars Society", The Flat Earth Society said that it's not necessary as Mars has been observed to be a sphere? WTF?

Its weird that a guy from my work was found dead by the side of the road at the weekend, half an hour after me and my friend drove down that road.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them. Impersonation is treason. Could've been a touch "Christmas spirit", I suppose. If that's the case, I imagine they might be back up any day now. |
