Got a text today from somedamnbody that said they had a plan if I wanted to lost 29 pounds.  I sent a text back saying I weigh 110 pounds and doubt very much that I need to lose 29.  They didn't want to talk any more.

Don’t feel too badly. I once got one offering to teach me exercises to relieve my menstrual cramps.

Part of me wonders what would have happened if you said, "I weigh 110, and if you say you can help me lose 29 pounds, I'd probably be so skinny my kids could turn me into a living marimba and play the solo to "Gone Daddy Gone" on my ribcage. You think you can do that?"

My son is Alex but not short for Alexander...had he been a daughter, he'd have been Alex too.

My oldest ribs me because her name was the number one name in the year she was born.  I try to remind her that we didn't have the Internet to track naming trends.  When I had her in 1977, I didn't know of another Jennifer...then suddenly they were everywhere.

When I die, I want a bunch of Italian guys in dark suits and sunglass to walk up to my casket and say things like, 'Gonna miss ya, boss', so my family will think I had something big going on.

At work, a resident's telly was on Fox News, and one of the anchors was an obviously gay black man.

And I'm thinking, how fucking ignorant do you have to be to be a gay black man who is willfully working on Fox News?

Kind of like the first name on the boy list - ‘Liam’ used to be a nickname for ‘William’.

I got a text this morning from a childhood friend of my son. I spent a lot of time providing him with a calm place to be when his parents were not being parents.

He wished me a happy Mother's Day and thanked me for being there for him when he was a kid....awwww. He's a fine young man now with a growing family of his own. It was unexpected and very appreciated to receive that message.
