We don't have fireworks here in Au. They were banned many decades ago. They were deemed too dangerous. You know, like those other things you Usians are also cray cray about.

I am still hearing fireworks going off. It's been days (nights actually) of this. It will also last from before Christmas till after New Year. The legality seems to make little difference. The rumors of a shortage due to issues with cargo making it here from China seem to be based on nothing.

Thankfully Quinn is sleeping through it instead of pacing. I guess he's gotten used to it.

So the prime minister of my country is so stupid. He's authorized kids to go to school for final exams, allowed for book stores as well as art stores to open. But he kept shoe stores closed. Trinidad have an average of 1.3 Million People. Only arround 230,000 total are currently vaccinated with the Sinopharm vaccine. Currently only people 60+ and people under 60 with chronic illnesses as well as essentail workers can get the vaccine. Regular people under 60, most of the population, can't. We're currently on lockdown and on the 17th of this month he wants to open the boarders. What? He's only letting in vaccinated people, but that doesn't matter becuase they can still give unvaccinated people covid. They can also bring in the delta variant. And since everywhere is closed except for Groceries, Hardwares, Construction, Hospitals, Book Stores, Hotels, Art Stores and Laundromats there is literally nothing Tourists can do here.

Had a phone interview and asked how they handled Covid last year. The recruiter sounded embarrassed, saying they were expected to come in the office every day. I looked the firm up on Glassdoor and so many negative comments mentioning how disgusting they were making people with Covid come to the office, etc. If you needed to stay home (because ya know, you had Covid) they made you take PTO. Nah, I’m good. Next!

Really sad that some companies just don’t get it. Your employees are your lifeline. No reason to make office execs venture into the office. But, I’m going to ask this question on my interviews from now on because it will reveal if the company treats its employees well...or not.

In the process of watching Tenet, but for some reason, I can't watch more than a handful of minutes, before I get this strange urge to simply stop watching. I've stopped watching 4 times now, and I'm only 16 minutes into the movie (it's on HBO).

This isn't just for this movie, but a lot of stuff, I can find myself reading a pop-sci article on my phone, and then just get this similar urge to simply stop reading, even if I think the news material is fresh and engaging. What the fuck is wrong with my brain? It's like I'm just taking a sip of (analogically) a beer and then waiting a day or two for another sip of the same beer, even though I know I could enjoy that beer for an hour. I guess it's the sensory overload that made me insane in November of last year, and just now I feel the ripples. Same deal happened with a philosophy of ethics book I read, when I got to the last section of the book, on metaethics, I simply could not continue reading even though it was fascinating to me.

Only when I'm walking can I continue walking, because I can't just stop in the middle of walking, unless I feel like standing in the rain or after lights out. There I know I have to keep walking until I get back home or whatever destination I have in mind. I just worry I'll completely stop, because I feel like the threshold is lowering each time I get the urge to stop whatever I'm doing. This is some negative reinforcement shit I'm doing and I have no idea what's causing it, probably something in my unconscious.
