Hitler a lot - a really, really lot - of bad decisions that cost him the war. One biggie was The Battle of Britain. Over the advice of at least some of his generals, Hitler felt that the British could be bombed into submission, to the point where they would either come in on Germany’s side or drop out of the war altogether.

He failed to account for the implacable hatred that the blitz would engender for All Things German.

People from the US will understand...Dr. wanted me to try a new medication. Did some checking on my health insurance and my out of pocket was going to be $100.00 for a 90 day supply. Went online and signed up for a coupon and though it took a while for the pharmacy to work it out, it was worth the half hour I spent waiting for them to figure it out.

Cash price $1,928.00. Copay with my insurance, $100.00, less coupon - zero $.

I feel like I won big on a scratch ticket.

The max here is $100 per year (apart from a very, very few specialized meds). You pay $5 for each prescription or refill. Once you’ve paid out $100, you pay nothing for your meds until the next year. No coupons needed.

For comparison, NZ$100 is equal to US$70.

 WOW! That's fantastic.

Here we have a National Pharmaceutical Scheme which is part of our Universal Health Scheme. Most common medicines are on a list. The maximum payment is $30 for most scripts. There  is a safety net of about $1400, in a calendar year.  After that the cost of scripts drops to $6.50. That's how much I pay for most scripts as a senior and age pensioner.

But, I don't mean to rain on your porridge, that's an amazingly good outcome going on how I understand the US health system. Great

I can attest that this is true. The last time I was in overnight, it seemed as if they needed fresh blood about every 40 minutes.

And they woke me up once just to ask if I was hungry.

Yair.

Strangely,  the Brits tried the same tactic against the Germans with  Arthur 'Bomber' Harris in charge of Bomber command***. German civilians reacted exactly as had British civilians; it really pissed them off.
