I've decided I would make a terrible parent.

"Mum, can I sleep with you tonight? I'm scared!"

"No, I can't risk the monster following you into my room and killing me, too. Sweet dreams!"

Gave up and drained the pool. We've had so much wind and the seed pods off various plants and trees and the extreme pollen simply trashed the water.

Will be some cleaning this weekend then we start the refill process and getting the chemicals right.

The price of chlorine has gone up so much in the last couple years that the whole idea of this cost pains me.

What really hurts is that we had it looking pretty good two weeks ago...in the matter of days, with the wind and the rain, it turned into the black lagoon.

Had one of the dogs fallen in, I'm not sure I'd have gone in after them.

An old neighbor and friend died last night after a years-long battle with cancer. It's sad but we are taking solace in the fact that he's not suffering any more.

An old neighbor and friend died last night after a years-long battle with cancer.  It's sad but we are taking solace in the fact that he's not suffering any more.

One never wishes someone dead, even when they suffer, but it's obvious that death is a mercy in those cases. When my MiL died, the FD and PD had to be called, as she wasn't yet back on hospice. The police were sort of confused as to why we weren't more upset. I told the sergeant that she'd had a stroke almost two years ago, was paralyzed on her right side, and that we had been told at the hospital that she would live MAYBE 3 days. 23 months later...she finally passed.

As one who works in the field I do, I have been witness to too many instances where life is prolonged for no other reason than to adhere to an outdated and primitive concept that is inhumane at its very core.
