Lol nah dude, I don't get it. Why is politics important?

Because politics determines:

-Education
-Housing
-Taxes
-Medical care
-Defense
-Voting
-Driving
-Employment
-Legality
-And a host of other things, all of which impact your life on a daily basis.

Politics and political decisions aren't some nebulous fog of hypotheticals that - whatever you may think - don't apply to you. They're as real as a fist in the face.

Well, I've always just relied on God/fate/my parents (you name it) to pull me through, and I've never been wrong about that. Politics does not matter to someone who knows everything is going to be okay no matter what happens.

Princeton University did a research study and found that the US isn't a democracy. They compared extensive polling on what the people want with the things that the politicians actually accomplished, and found that there was almost no correlation. The US is an oligarchy, and you and I aren't in the club.

The public point of politics is to stoke antagonism. We are supposed to become bitterly angry at the other team while choosing between Coke and Pepsi -- or in the present case, Orange old man criminal vs. Senile old man genocider. Because if the people actually started to act on what their real needs are, the oligarchs would be in trouble. 

But in the meantime, we can make confident assertions on a forum almost no one reads, to show what good people we are.
