That's what makes this thread even dumber. At the national level, Democrats and Republicans are in near total agreement on immigration policy. It's just in media that they pretend to be polar opposites.

Both parties agree that no-one wants a rush of illegal immigrants.  "Open borders" is a political loser, and both sides know it.

The parties don't agree on what to do with the illegals that have been here for decades, general immigration policy, or funding that should go to dealing with the influx.

I guess it's fine as long as the border states take care of them. The number of migrants Texas sent to New York and LA is just a fraction of the number they're dealing with.

You seem to continue to labor under the misguided belief that only border states have illegal immigrants and the illegal border crossing is the leading source of illegal immigration, despite having it spelled out to you that it's not the case.

Not just that, but evidently he think that they’re all in Texas, since he includes LA in the list of cities that apparently aren’t pleased that Abbott is busing immigrants there. Even though it’s a border state. Even though California already has a bigger undocumented population than Texas.

For Fuck’s Sake, Los Angeles County already has an undocumented population of close to a million. And I’m going to go out on a limb and say they’re not in the desert parts of the county.

Frankly, I suspect that the thing is sanctuary cities/states would prefer they come on their own initiative and not because the Governor of Texas is feeling particularly racist today. And, yes, Lek, they do come to those states on their own initiative. Case in point: There’s 12 sanctuary states right now, and in 9 of them (New Mexico, Vermont, and Rhode Island being the sole exceptions), there are already over 100,000 undocumented immigrants there. And this has been true since before Abbott decided to ship his immigrants to other states.

And doing a little more research as to why a big city in a sanctuary state would object to Abbott busing more migrants in, I found another crucial factor: not enough funding to take care of everyone he's sending to there.

But, Reverend, what about Texas? The border there- Texas gets millions in aid from FEMA over what's going on at the border. Chicago, and the other major cities, haven't recieved a penny from the federal government to help with this. At most, they might receive some funding from the state goverments, but it's not enough. It's not that they see illegal immigrants as bad per se like the right does (they're really not; to nip another myth in the bud, undocumented immigrants commit less crime per capita than native-born US Citizens across the board, all the way from traffic violations to murder); they just need the money to properly take care of them.

I don't love or hate immigrants any more or less. What I am in favor of determining what amount of immigration is the best for the country, setting quotas, and fairly and effectively enforcing that for the good of all Americans. Currently, illegals are being put up in hotels at taxpayer expense, while Americans, including disabled vets, are in the streets.
