I saw that news about the mysterious statue they used as a promotional tool. Silly business.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 gets sales and player boost after historic The Game Awards win

Still haven't considered returning to the game after my initial upset with the mechanics.

What didn't you like about the mechanics? It's on Game Pass, so I don't need to buy it, but it sounds right up my alley.

There are no clear markers as to where you're supposed to go next. You could go down a path toward a boss you're not ready for instead of where you need to go first. I'm going to need a very precise, detailed walk through to guide me since there aren't any map markers for guidance.

Even though you can choose your own path in "BG3", at least there are map indicators. Which Exp. 33 lacks altogether.

Also, if you have to use a save spot for recovering health, any monsters you've already defeated are respawned. Which is annoying as F when you have to double back on paths you've already trod.

I can understand that. Sea of Stars has no map function. It's pretty linear, so it's not a deal breaker, but I wish it had a map.

That respawn is a typical feature of Souls-likes. It's by design.

If I decide to play it again, I'll need to follow a video guide to see exactly where I'm going.

IGN tends to be good about video inclusion.

If you do, it may help to know how Souls-likes are supposed to work. You're expected to fail often and repeatedly. The repetition is a form of trial and error for learning how to beat monsters and bosses.
