teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

RE: Christmas insanity
There is someone here in our small town who dresses up as The Grinch every year. For a couple of weeks they post on Facebook little videos of him in different places around town. This year they started by letting him out of jail. He has been to a fire station trying to get hired, the local florist shop, one of the salons downtown to get his hair and his nails did, and various other things. Last night he went to a small dance/gymnastics studio and tried practicing with the kids there.

The costume and makeup are well done and the little clips are pretty cute. They are a great way to promote the small businesses in town as you don't see him at any chain store, only the mom and pop shops. It's one of those small town things that makes life in a small town a bit more special.
