Just to play Devil's Advocate, perhaps, maybe, he's concerned about potential backlash among his friends and family if they google his username and see him registered to atheist forums, and is trying to remove himself to avoid potential persecution over it. If your username was the same for many accounts, linking to alt.usernames, full name, address etc. I might be concerned if my fundie friends saw my name linked to an atheist website. Maybe he joined to troll, maybe he joined to query and question his own beliefs.. who knows. Maybe I'm being too forgiving, but if its possible, and he cares that much about it.. what harm does it do to just delete his account as he wishes. If you were running about deleting accounts all over the place (not that I was bored enough to look beyond a few, and that was bored enough).. maybe he has a valid reason to do so, and doesn't feel like having to explain yourself. Just trying to see the other side ....

Just my take on it, but if anyone was as worried as that about being traced to here, they probably shouldn't register with such a username as might be identifiable. However if being identified in this way has only become a problem for him since registering, changing his name as he's been advised time and again would clear that up, surely?
I personally don't have any problem one way or the other with his request, though he might have been a tad less snotty about it, but then again I don't run the place. If the policy is not to delete accounts, then them's the breaks. One could argue the pros and cons of the policy, but that would be up to the individuals concerned I think. I also have no beef about why he wants his account deleted, that's his own concern. However, as I say I don't run the place. I just break it occasionally.
