It's an unproven accusation that that was his motive. Like I said though, it wouldn't surprise me. There isn't much he could do at this point that would.

He's giving hostages to fortune. When Trump starts worrying about Musk's influence, Trump will simply use this against him and Dems will sit on the sidelines and let Elon get fired.
