Why?? It's no more complicated than windoze!

(you can run it from a CD or usb stick as a test, no need to install anything)

RE: Windows Crazy Shit
I recently installed Ubuntu 24.04 on my laptop, it's pretty amazing how far it's come since the early Slackware days. I realized that there really was nothing keeping me on windows - I don't game on windows much anymore and the game I do play mostly work with SteamPlay. I've chosen to use open source or libre apps for everything for years.

I had resolved that windows 10 was it for me.

I don't know why, but I thought you were a Linux guru.

Anyway, just to say, this new Linux distro I've been using to play my games, POP OS is incredibly easy to use and set up like I never thought possible of Linux (being a total Linux noob/novice myself). I'm just completely in love with it... it's just pretty much plug and play all the way, and is not 'nagware' (or indeed 'adware') at all like Windows. It just feels so free in comparison, and so sleek and well designed. All the configuration you need to do can be done with simple graphical menus (I haven't had to use the command line once yet), and it pretty much seamlessly integrates with Steam, which is my primary use for it. I just can't recommend this enough to anyone wanting to escape the hassles of Windows, without the steep learning curve usually associated with Linux. Basically, Linux frightens me too, but this went against all of my expectations.

I was just pulling peoples' leg. I'm not any guru, though. I've occasionally run *NIX oses, but never became very proficient.

Ah, oops  Blush

I'd still recommend this OS though, whatever your level if you're looking for an alternative to Windows for gaming. I really do feel like I'm almost ready to drop Windows completely... which I wasn't expecting at all. I just don't like the stress it causes, with its constant nagging and strongarm tactics, so I'd rather be free of it and for the first time ever with any distro, I feel that this ticks so many boxes that that might actually be feasible.

I used control Z in file manager for some reason and (random?) files disappeared, its a thing apparently.
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.
