How often do you get a new phone?

How often do you get a new phone?
I haven't gotten a new one in years.

Currently, I have the Samsung Galaxy A32.

I'm limping along with my current phone after two years. I buy budget phones and they tend not to last as long. My prior phone lasted two years.

My provider sends me a new phone yearly, unless I notify them in advance that I don’t want it. The cost is built into my service fee, which hasn’t increased in five years.

When I break the current one.

Probably not often enough. I currently have an iPhone 6S, and I've only just found out about how Apple no longer supports it. I am not looking forward to upgrading.

Every few years, on average. I don't spend much money on them either.

Every three or four years. My newest phone was a replacement for the one I was using as it was harder and harder to keep charged. I have an iPhone 15+.

When the one I have breaks.

I am definitely not a typical phone user. I largely use my phone as a phone (imagine that). I'm not into texting and definitely not into using a phone with its tiny screen to browse the internet.

I used to be a US Coast Guard-licensed Captain. I ran Scuba boats for awhile and later a tour boat in the salt-water area of the Everglades National Park. During that time, I used an app to charge customer credit cards and to monitor weather in real time. That was very useful to me. In retirement, I have no use for the phone other than as a phone. I have a PC with 3 x 32" monitors plus a 55" TV as a fourth monitor. Yeah, I'm definitely a nerd.

It might be different if I was younger with better eye-sight and/or more mobile. I used to be major into hiking. I would have been highly into personal GPS had it been available during that time. As I am now, I just have little use for a phone aside from its primary function as a phone.

A very close summary of my own usage as well. I use my phone occasionally to get info online, but I hate long texting stuff. Other than that, staying in touch with my son and wider family, that's about it.

When I was working my employer provided a new phone every few years, when I retired I got a used Galaxy S9, when the battery died I got a One plus nord on a *deal of the day" thing at Amazon (cost all of £125) I use it mostly for phone calls and emails, occasionally I use WhatsApp.
90% of the stuff on it have either been deleted or ignored.
