Philandro Castile comes immediately to mind.

ETA: an anecdote: I was steeped in that culture for years. My grandfather, father and my self all NRA life (I rescinded mine decades ago). Scott, a buddy of mine, he was like a brother to me. I've known him for nearly 40 years. He's an NRA gun instructor and gun nut. When I saw him for the last time before the inauguration his biggeat threat to liberty was ten minute cities (the conspiracist version). When I suggested that he might examine the dystopia in front of him, he lowered his head and shook it a couple of times and then he turned and walked away. We simply don't exist within the same factual and moral context. Scott maybe isn't a typical gun owner, but he's real typical of active NRA people like my father before he died. Ph.D patholigist and deeply immersed in the culture. They're fanatics.

Amongst others, yep. SrA Fortson, in Florida, too. A serviceman with his gun at order-arms.

I don't recall how that one turned out but I bet it rhymes with 'no wrongdoing found'.

ETA charged with manslaughter.

I would not hold your breath on that one.   I've known plenty of those guys, as long as they think no one is coming for their guns, they're consummate bootlickers.

In my experience conservatives (though here this term might mean something else I guess) always are. Only "freedom" they want is freedom to spout nazi crap without consequences.

I expect there's some overlap but i would describe the majority Republican viewpoint to be reactionary rather than conservative. Ours have a more sinister intent than that, I think.

To me conservative is label that fascists use when they want to look respectable. Most of the time - it seems to me - right wing clowns want to turn back time and return to what never was except in their fevered imagination and thus reactionary is an apt descriptor for them. As for being sinister I would agree that in US malice is more visible and deeper but Poland with gov suspending right to asylum which in effect suspends constitution as it is guaranteed by it or lack of reproductive rights also ain't making pretty picture. Add admiration that many right wing traitors politicians feel toward trump and it is clear that shit won't be pretty here.

There's been a little quiet mumbling from the gun lobbies, but none of the outrage that we'd expect if some Good Ol' Boy had died resisting Federales that were coming for his guns.

There's also been talk about the Insurrection Act. Looks like a losing move for Trump. He'll get to deploy the troops to some isolated hotspots, which will do wonders for his ego, but nothing else. The blowback will be just what the Democrats need to ensure a blue wave in the midterms. If he tries to deploy forces more broadly, he'll quickly run out of forces and discover that they're pretty useless against peaceful civil disobedience anyway. Remind me of the last time that troops ended a general strike.

RE: Infernal ICE
This is not a gestapo-like situation. Before seizing power had his SA units. Later these SA where all liquidated during the Night of the Long Knifes.

But they were still a key to his rise to power by terrorizing ordinary people and gradually bringing the whole of Germany under the yoke of the NSDAP.

If this is an efficient way of doing politics it’s definitely not an ethical way of doing politics. Politicians (even right-wing conservative politicians) need to have a code of conduct and some sort of work-ethic while performing their roles as politicians.

It’s not OK to simply mess everything up like that. Politicians from the Republican camp need to understand this and stand up against D. Trump.
