Words/Phrases that People Use but Shouldn't

Words/Phrases that People Use but Shouldn't
Place holders for so-called 'Bad Words' such as 'arse' and 'shite'. Say what to fuck you mean! If you wish to speak of shit, how is it more socially acceptable to refer to it as shite? You're talking about the same fucking thing! What is the point of making up an alternate spelling?

Beginning a sentence with, 'So'. I find this one particularly peculiar because of how wide-spread it has become. Even people across cultures are doing it. People learning English as a second language are doing it. It's so idiotic and annoying! The sentence, "So, I took a shit today" is functionally identical with the sentence, "I took a shit today." What's the point of the idiotic, 'So'?

The idiotic emphasis phrase, 'Doubled-Down'. We got along just fine before this stupid phrase was introduced. He emphasized that Trump is a jackass. Asked for clarification, he reiterated that Trump is a fucking circus clown. See? We already had parlance for emphasis.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

I do agree with you about starting a sentence with so.
"this happened, so I did that" makes sense "so, I did that" does not.

'At the end of the day...' gets right up my nose.

Unless you're talking about something that happened at sunset (or at midnight if you're a purist), find another phrase.

'Meltdown' when it's used to describe a fractious exchange between (usually) public figures. To my mind, for something to qualify as a meltdown, it should involve a combination of incoherent screaming, uncontrollable sobbing, and throwing things.

I'm ok with it being used to describe certain nuclear power incidents.

I like that phrase and will continue to use it...

At the end of the day it does no-one any harm Wink

That's very kind of you, thank you Smile

I've used that phrase twice today already, so yeah, definitely a popular one for me, so, sorry about that Wink
