Usually I say just 'bless you' without the God part. When someone hollers "Hey! You're an Atheist!" I say "Yes, and I have blessed you!"
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

The last time someone said they would pray for me (former workmate) i replied "Oh, thank you, that's sooo sweet, i'll ask my imaginary friend to help you out too..."

I think it was Daniel Dennet who, when he was ill and a friend said they prayed for him asked if they also sacrificed a goat.

There is only a dispute if you haven't read the original essays from whence they came. Each dictionary I come across either sways between a "modernised" definition and the original. I prefer the original definition, because it gives a person more intellectual honesty, and the modernised definition helps nobody out at all.
