Sarah Palin offers thanks to Bush, not Obama, for death of Bin Laden
Sarah Palin offers kudos to George W. Bush for Osama bin Laden’s death, but omits President Obama’s name

Are you surprised? Even slightly surprised? Is this good Fox news entertainment or what?
Palin Wrote:A day after Osama bin Laden's death, Sarah Palin offered measured praise to President Obama for his role in approving the operation to kill the 9/11 mastermind, though she didn't once mention the Commander-in-Chief by name.

Speaking at a tribute to military veterans in Colorado, the former Alaska governor credited Obama's "decisive leadership" in the mission--referring to him as "the president."

But she notably praised former President George W. Bush by name, insisting he had laid the groundwork for the successful operation. "We thank President Bush for having made the right calls to set up this victory," she said, per the Denver Post.

The speech was noticeably less combative than recent remarks by Palin, in which she seemed to go out of her way to aggressively attack Obama's foreign policy as weak.

Yes, because we all know how much Bush put effort into capturing Hussei...er...Bin Laden. What planet is this bitch on?

Palin Wrote:Last night, Palin didn't back down from that critique, but she espoused a more pragmatic foreign policy view than she has been known to voice in the past. While she has previously argued for an aggressive use of American force, Palin seemed to reverse course, arguing that a president should offer "clarity" and "clearly defined objectives" before engaging U.S. troops abroad.

I also heard that Bush declined Obama's offer to celebrate with him on ground Zero and Bush declined.

Gee..I wonder why he declined?

Even Supreme Chancelor Dick Palpatine Cheney gave props to Obama for the Bin Laden job...without shooting him in the face with 12 guage buck shot!

That says a lot.

Didn't Bush officially give up on ever finding Bin Laden in 2005? By this, I mean wasn't there an official act of disbanding the CIA's efforts to find him?

RE: Sarah Palin offers thanks to Bush, not Obama, for death of Bin Laden
BIAS OVERLOAD!!!

It's really pretty simple, the demise of Osama was the product of a decade of work by intelligence operatives, it does not fucking matter who was president either when the operation began or when it ended. Any attempt to give either of them credit is fucking retarded, give the credit to the people who spent real time gathering information, who put their lives at risk and who fired the bullets, not whoever was sitting in some fancy office on the other damn side of the world at the time.

Besides, what the fuck did she do wrong, other than not saying "Obama"? She said "the president" had a strong and decisive leadership... Fuck me, but that sounds like a compliment! "Oh bu.bu.but she said called bush by name!" - Fucking grow up Rev, turning that tiny little detail into anti-Palin rhetoric is pathetic. Yeah, she's a retard, but making shit sound bad just to score points is bottom of the barrel scumbag tactics - You'd probably make a good republican.

And don't just point out the republicans who are spinning this shit for their own ends:

Nancy Pelosi, press conference, September 7, 2006:

[E]ven if [Osama bin Laden] is caught tomorrow, it is five years too late. He has done more damage the longer he has been out there. But, in fact, the damage that he has done … is done. And even to capture him now I don’t think makes us any safer.

Nancy Pelosi, earlier today:

The death of Osama bin Laden marks the most significant development in our fight against al-Qaida. … I salute President Obama, his national security team, Director Panetta, our men and women in the intelligence community and military, and other nations who supported this effort for their leadership in achieving this major accomplishment. … [T]he death of Osama bin Laden is historic….

You Americans are like big fucking children.

Void, Void, Void,

Let me remind you of a few facts:

1. When 9/11 happened, Bush wanted to pin it on Saddam.
2. When he couldn't, he went into Afghanistan slowly and with the minimum effort.
3. When he still cornered Bin Laden at Tora Bora, he let our Afghan proxies try to catch him.
4. After Bin Laden got away, Bush declared he didn't care about him.
5. Bush then lied the nation into a war with Iraq, distracting our attention away from Afghanistan.
6. Al Qaida was given the opportunity to regroup by our distraction and then take advantage of chaos in Iraq.
7. Bush officially gave up on finding Bin Laden in 2005
8. Obama declared as a candidate that he would take action in Pakistan if he had intel on Bin Laden. Conservatives howled about how stupid that move would be.

And now they want an equal share of the credit?

Oh, a "few facts" right? Not just a bullet point list or anything right? Wait...

Quote:1. When 9/11 happened, Bush wanted to pin it on Saddam.

Not relevant. Bush using 9/11 as an excuse to enforce his will is another issue, it has fuck all to do with my point. Governments always use tragedy as an excuse to tighten their grip and extend their authority, this is no different.

Quote:2. When he couldn't, he went into Afghanistan slowly and with the minimum effort.

Minimum effort? Declaring war on a sovereign nation because of it's associations with a terrorist group constitutes minimum effort? Well fuck me, I'd hate to think what you consider 'maximum effort'.

Quote:3. When he still cornered Bin Laden at Tora Bora, he let our Afghan proxies try to catch him.

1. The did not know that bin laden was there, they believed it to be the case but this was never confirmed.

2. They did not just leave it to the anti-Taliban militia, it was orchestrated and backed by US and British special forces.

3. It was a meager 2 months after 9/11.

4. It was not Bush who called the ceasefire.

Quote:4. After Bin Laden got away, Bush declared he didn't care about him.

That's because he's not that important... Even Pelosi admitted as much, until there was political gain to be made from exaggerating the importance that is.

Quote:5. Bush then lied the nation into a war with Iraq, distracting our attention away from Afghanistan.

Red Herring. Osama was most likely already in Pakistan, renewed efforts in Afghanistan are not relevant.

Quote:6. Al Qaida was given the opportunity to regroup by our distraction and then take advantage of chaos in Iraq.

Red Herring #2

Quote:7. Bush officially gave up on finding Bin Laden in 2005

Complete BS, they closed an office that had been dealing with it, he was not worth the resources. Osama's role in 'terrorism' was not as important as before, thus dedicating an office to hunting him was a waste of time - That is at least how the CIA at the time put it.

"Agency officials said that tracking Mr. bin Laden and his deputies remained a high priority, and that the decision to disband the unit was not a sign that the effort had slackened. Instead, the officials said, it reflects a belief that the agency can better deal with high-level threats by focusing on regional trends rather than on specific organizations or individuals."

"The efforts to find Osama bin Laden are as strong as ever," said Jennifer Millerwise Dyck, a C.I.A. spokeswoman. "This is an agile agency, and the decision was made to ensure greater reach and focus."

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/04/washin...intel.html

Quote:8. Obama declared as a candidate that he would take action in Pakistan if he had intel on Bin Laden. Conservatives howled about how stupid that move would be

You think that if someone had told bush "Hey, Osama's in this bunker over here" he wouldn't have done anything? They simply did not have the intelligence when Bush was in office to make that kind of move.

And Obama did not say that "I'll step up the effort", he said that if he has intelligence he will act.

Big.Fucking.Deal

Quote:And now they want an equal share of the credit?

My point was that neither of them deserve fuck all credit, equal or not, compared to the boots on the ground, the CIA assets and other operatives, the team who trawled through intelligence reports line by line and all the other people who had a substantial role in tracking him down. Obama did fuck all relative to the decade long intelligence effort. It wouldn't have made a damn bit of difference who was in office, anyone who had solid intel would have acted.

C.I.A. Closes Unit Focused on Capture of bin Laden

Did you expect Palin to know this or point it out? Nope. She thanked Bush, who obviously was opposed to finding Bin Laden, and therefore is not showing up for a victory party on ground zero because...I dont know...the paper trail doesnt look that great for Bush.
Looks like Void will be putting his vote in with the Republicans again, like Libertarians usually do.
