Favourite Game/s History?
#21
RE: Favourite Game/s History?
The Total War series, all of it, Stronghold and all of its expansions, and Sins of a Solar Empire are pretty high on my list. This of course all started with C & C for me many many years ago. I spend most of my time playing LoL and World of Tanks atm though. World of Tanks I cannot stress enough to WW2/Tank/Military/MMO gamers. Its free to play, micro-transaction based, fast paced, beautiful, and very very fun. Like Counter-strike with tanks.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Among poker games I'd have to go with hi lo omaha, although I recently learned a good two handed game based on poker hands.
Other card games we play regularly: Giant Two; Schmere; and Up and Down the River. Oh, and go fish with my 5 year-old niece.

Thirty years ago I played some early video games. Then, back when I was getting rid of my tv because it was a waste of time, I got rid of video games too. We got another tv but no more video games. I know the appeal but there is so much more time available for other stuff without it.

Some best games I played:
Sim series on SimCity 2000 age, SimTower, Sim Ants, SimVillage, everything sims
Transport Tycoon, and its open-source enhancement
Homeworld I and II, though the former is more memorable
Rome Total War (Greek Mod Rocks!)

And the best of all game:
Freespace 2

Wish I could remember the names of all the favorites but having played for more than 30 years now it is impossible to list them as the names have been forgotten with time and the vast number of games played are too numerous to count(and my memory sucks). Here's what I do remember starting with earliest:

Pong
Pitfall and Donkey Kong
Zelda
Final Fantasy 1-7
Tomb Raider 1-3(others were garbage)
Parasite Eve(big favorite)
Neverwinter Nights(and about 540 player-made mods over a 7 year period)
Everquest 1
Elder Scrolls 3(have #4 but haven't started yet)

Recently tried some MMORPGs but none lasted long. Waiting for the next big epic one.

Edit: Just remembered Planescape Torment(another big favorite).
Theists changing my derision of religion is equivilent to pissing into the wind and expecting not to get wet.

RE: Favourite Game/s History?
Here's a few of my old (and new) favourites, as far as my swiss-cheese memory will allow:

Zelda - Ocarina of Time (of course);
GoldenEye 64 (naturally);
Mario 64 (anyone want to guess which console I've got?);
Resident Evil 2 (IMHO, the series went downhill after that. And as for the films...);
Medal of Honor - various incarnations;
Destroy All Humans! (for when I just want to blast shit);
Simpsons Hit & Run;
Life & Death (a cracking medical/surgical game);
Orbiter (not a game as such; an excellent spaceflight simulator using real-world physics and fantastic graphics - and it's free!)

I know for a fact there's hundreds, if not thousands more - my gaming experiences go all the way back to the old grainy black and white days of the ZX Spectrum, the Commodore 64, the Nintendo NES, etc.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

You saying someone who is level 40 in warcraft cannot possibly know what a vag feels like? You implying that everyone who games is a nerd and also a virgin?

If you don't game why comment at all on a gaming thread just to be a prick?

I can tell you what it feels like to be level 85 on several characters in WoW is like...

And I can also tell you how penises taste and that size does matter Smile

Can't tell you what a vagina feels like yet. But given that every friend I've made down here so far has been a woman... I'll be able to tell you by next year ^_^

...

Rude comment is rude, Cinjin.

RE: Favourite Game/s History?
Wow Napoleon we have a similiar game history. My first favorite game was without a doubt kotor. Just the immersion in the star wars galaxy with the great story made me shun all outside contact with the world. To this day, I play that shit. Fingers crossed the mmo is worth it. After that I was gonna say Fallout 3 as well. Fingers crossed Bethseda announces a fallout 4 soon.
If I die and god is real, im so screwed.
