Human Psychosis Hidden As Religion/Christianity

Human Psychosis Hidden As Religion/Christianity
A friend of mine received an email from someone who she did not know is a "Christian." My friend forwarded a "Cat In The Hat" email to this woman, and to myself, which I did not find the email to be offensive at all. This is the response she got from that woman:

Dear *****: I would appreciate it if you would not send me any more emails. What you may think is funny, I find it offensive and do not care to read it. You really do not know me, but I am a christian and am married to a Minister. We are elders at our church and carry other titles as well. I am serious about my walk with Jesus and I live for him all the way. I do not play with sin and I do not use profanity or appreciate it when others use it around me. I have mentioned to [your husband] that I did not like one of your previous emails and I thought that he would talk to you about it. I am very serious about this matter and I wish not to receive any more of your email. Thank you for your understanding.

***********************

My friend emailed me in disbelief. So, this is what I wrote back to my friend:

Hi ******,

I am sorry that this woman does not have a brain. It is unfortunate that she is a "Christian" (whatever that is).

It isn't anything you did, really. She used "Christianity" as an excuse to belittle you and to try to humiliate you. There is no doubt about it, her email to you was harsh. That does not mean it was accurate of reality. She lives a delusional life and suffers from psychosis. Really! I am not kidding. Christianity is nothing less than a severe mental disorder in which contact with reality is lost or highly distorted. Unfortunately, it is accepted throughout our society in the most heinous personal manner. Take a look at this conversation that I found on the internet as an example of what I am talking about:

Question:
"Why is the Bible filled with heinous atrocities committed by God and his followers?"

A "Christian" answered: "Because God loves us more than we can ever imagine. All of those heinous things that he ordered people to do in the bible are just ways of showing his love for us."

It is obvious that there is something severely mentally amiss in our society when these statements, like the one that this woman wrote to you, are believed as being legitimate, good, honorable, respectable and virtuous... when on the other hand, you actually shared something with her that IS, in reality, legitimate, good, honorable, respectable and virtuous!

I read the "Cat in the hat" email, too. It was funny! It was funny because it depicts reality. It does not depict sin. What "IS" sin, anyway? The heinous atrocities that are mentioned in the Bible, according to God, are not sin? Christianity and religion is anything but reality and only humans are capable of making it what it is, or isn't.

This "Christian" woman "walks with Jesus" daily... she says.

And you know what else she does?

She "listens" to a God telling her how to live her life and how to raise her children after that very same "God" had to drown his own children.

She is an idiot! For that reason alone you might want to delete her email. But, if not for those reasons I mentioned to you, at least delete her from your email on the basis that she sent you one of the most inconsistent grandiosity emails I have read in a long time. Her rhetoric was insincere and without regard for fact or truth. Just because SHE believes something doesn't make it fact. She is a half-wit.

Unfortunately, she not only gets away with spewing out her rhetoric, but she also gets support from others like her!

...and to suggest that you are a sinful person. If there was ever a separation between man and "God" it certainly is not because of "sin" that causes that separation. The separation between man and "God" is strictly because of common sense. That woman has none!

OK. My rant is over. I hope that helped! Smile

At least I offered you some common sense through that woman's extravagant farce.

No. This is not "Cal" (whoever that might be).

The definition of psychosis is: Any severe mental disorder in which contact with reality is lost or highly distorted.

Further, the fundamental explanation of the fact that Christianity is nothing less than psychosis is the following:

The beauty behind a miracle of an irrational but irresistible motive for a belief or action such as religion is that it has the power to explain everything. With the acceptance of God or Satan as being the first cause of everything which happens in the mortal world, logic can happily and erroneously be excluded from any concern or consideration and nothing, then, is ever left to chance. The greatest excuse ever perpetuated on humanity is the accomplishment of religion to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in dilusion, however satisying and reassuring. (partially quoted from Richard Dawkins and Carl Sagan).

To digress that "Christianity is a psychosis" (being a bit of a worry) certainly goes back to my furthered statement that religion {psychosis}is an irresistible motive to believe anything otherwise. There is plenty of evidence to certify beyond any doubt that Christianity and the ongoing belief in a supernatural deity within Christianity is specifically proportionate with psychosis. Once realized and accepted as fact based on demonstrated and substantiated evidence, there is no further need to feel troubled or worried that a fact is simply a fact. Instead, it is awareness, itself, which is the first step in recovering from any mental illness. Christianity is incisively, psycosis.

You did not offer anything especially useful to discuss except for an insinuated exacerbation that I might be someone you know, which I am not.

Your definition of psychosis is I think simplistic and misleading. That Christians are out of touch with reality is an opinion, not a fact. A psychosis is is often controllable ,but not normally curable.

There is no evidence of which I'm aware to show a belief in Christianity per se [or any other major religion] is a psychosis within the accepted meaning, or even a minor psychiatric disorder..

However, I concede the possibility of error will be happy to re examine my position if you can point me at some text books and some peer reviewed articles to support your theory.

Perhaps have glance at the attached link. It may help you to be begin to gain a more complete understanding of the term, which you seem to have gleaned from a very old dictionary.

Maybe it is already but I think that should be made a hard rule ... I once banned a creationist from the (then) Science, Just Science forums for that very reason.

Which reminds me ... I have something to propose (PM on way today some time).

@Adrian;
Yes,sorry. It's more a problem of navigation than indifference I assure you. As Jethro Leroy Gibbs says "I'm workin' on it"

Plus I've been on enough forums,(and have been a moderator myself) to realise how unwise it is to piss off moderators. After all, mods are just like ordinary people, only moreso.Angel

Moreso what? Moreso ordinary people? How does that work lol?

You mean less mortal? MUAHHAHAHAH!

Reminds me of the opening to level 2 and the first 'hub' to one of my favourite old FPS games, Hexen: "Greetings MORTAL are you really to DIE?" Tongue

Whenever I think of mortal, or 'mere mortal' I think of HeXen.

Kind of weird I reminded myself this time lol....
