- Video games.
- Pestering people randomly.
- Asking far too many questions.
- Working on Master of Orion and postulating what would make an incredible game better, alongside simple fixes to its current gameplay. Basically a twofold hobby (remake MoO) and (lay out very clearly a better MoO than MoO).

I have no hobbies.
I do software development all week at work, then end up trying to get the gumption to fix up my own poor JS implementation at home for a video server web interface.
I can use a telescope and will be showing middle school aged girls the sky at Stanford as part of SJAA outreach. Not much of a hobby though, just old skills and memorization of favorable objects.
Other than that, I spend all my time browsing AF and my usual haunts.
Useless.

I read, fly kites, bike trails, camp, scrapbook and cook. I'm boring myself just thinking about how boring I am.

I'm sure you do a lot of interesting things with those bikers.

Hobbies for me:
1. Things with wheels (just rebuilt the 302 in my Mercury; used to autocross real Mini Coopers and a particularly wicked Rabbit GTI; gave up drag-racing motorcycles a few years back; see below for bicycle stuff)
2. Lifting weights
3. A ridiculously light singlespeed mountain bike on which I love to catch and humiliate out of shape toads on their F/S multispeeds.
4. Scuba (did a dive with the whale sharks at the Georgia Aquarium last summer)
5. Writing (one bad novel under my belt thanks to NaNoWriMo, one much better novel a tenth completed; designs on a Latin textbook)

NaNoWriMo FTW! You planning on setting aside some time this year for a repeat? Gonna be three terrible novels flying out of this house this year. Convinced my wife and my mother that they had at least one book in them..hehehe.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I have such a heavy teaching and mentoring role at my new school this year that I shudder at the thought of doing another NaNoWriMo, especially since, per its "rules," I could not merely continue with the book I began last year and which I have been slowly building ever since. I think NaNoWriMo is something an aspiring writer should experience, but much like a broken collarbone, afterward, the memory of the experience should suffice to preclude the behavior that engendered it.
