The Cult of Death

RE: The Cult of Death
First, as some already pointed out, it was only a couple of individuals who yelled in favor of letting the hypothetical man die—in an audience of how many? Second, as Adrian underscored, we have no idea what party those individuals are affiliated with. (Judging by their response, I suspect they are Ron Paul supporters.) Third, even if the entire audience did consist of Tea Party advocates—and we are not provided any reason to believe this—how does a couple of callous individuals somehow represent the entire audience? Fourth, the rest of the audience did not applaud the response of those individuals. Fifth, Paul answered "no" to Blitzer's question, pointing to the example of church-run hospitals which exist to take care of people who cannot afford to pay for their health care needs. And finally, to Blitzer's question of who pays the six months of intensive health care costs, I would answer:

"That 30-year-old young man, of course." He chose to go without health care, despite making a good living at a good job.

called upon to act in accordance with the dictates of reason.

It was more than 2 or 3 but the real applause came earlier when Paul said "(the dying man) should take responsibility for his own life" which seems like the same thing to me. Paul did say he should have "major medical coverage" but, if not.... ( "Fuck him," I guess). He did not answer the question because he's been a politician long enough but the audience got it. And I am certain there were plenty of "pro-life" assholes sitting there.

*Pro-life as long as someone else pays for it...not them.
