MY guilty pleasure; 'ABBA'. Do I win a prize? .

The fact that Anni had the most magnificent arse in the business is irrelevant

RE: Guilty musical pleasures?
I have quite a diverse taste in music, so, naturally, there's quite a few that come to mind.

The Insane Clown Posse:

I do listen to ICP, but I do not consider myself a Juggalo. I don't drink Faygo, I don't put on clown makeup, I just like to listen to listen to the stories of sociopathic killer clowns.

Sugar Ray:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUtnwcv-quE
I only listen to it between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Shania Twain:

I love to listen to her music. I don't know why, especially since I don't like pop-country or Adult Contemporary. And yes, I will freely admit that there's quite a few female singers I would much prefer to jack off to than actually hear sing (Hilary Duff or Christina Aguilera being among them), and I don't consider her one of them.

Linkin Park:

Yes, I know they're just nu-metal posers, but I can't help but think that Hybrid Theory is at least a solid album, and I'll probably listen to it more often than I will Trout Mask Replica.

Cobra Starship:

It's intentionally campy synth-pop. They do make it like they used to do.

Three guesses as to why I listen to these girls, and the first two don't count.

And two honorable mention:
Hot Action Cop.

I put this on here because I like this song, even if it is really stupid (trying to create an RHCP-style fuck song that wouldn't get above PG-13). I think part of this is because I knew of a girl who tried to woo a (female) co-worker using the lyrics to this song.

The Bridget Jones' Diary Soundtrack.

I must admit that I hate Jane Austen with a fucking passion. So much so that I think that Mark Twain's assessment of her ("Everytime I read 'Pride and Prejudice' I want to dig her up and beat her over the skull with her own shin-bone") is too nice. My mother, however, is a Jane Austen fanatic, and she loves the film Bridget Jones' Diary. I just see that movie as just another self-insert fanfic of Pride and Prejudice which just happened to get a big publishing deal and a film franchise. However, after the hundredth time my mother had the soundtrack of this movie on repeat, I came to admit that there are quite a few good songs on the album, and at least the movie has one redeeming quality, and at least it lasts longer than its sequel's one redeeming quality: a 13-second lesbian kiss.

I think it's extremely stupid to be guilty of liking a certain genre or song. You like what you like, and I like what I like and I'm not ashamed of any of it nor do I try to hide the fact that I like any sort of music or song what so ever.

So, I have no guilty musical pleasures.

Classical music is my guilty pleasure, because very few younger people listen to it very much. Indeed the average listener on ABC classical fm is around 60 years old or so. Right now I am really into the Romantic era of classical music which includes composers such as Schubert, Liszt, Chopin, Berlioz among others.

Here is a piece by Chopin

You think Chopin is obscure? I'd hate to see what you'd think when you hear some Stockhausen:

I did not say Chopin is obscure.

Never underestimate the ignorance of the general public, if you were to ask who was Chopin to a lot of people. The reply from a large number of people would be WTF is Chopin.

Yeah, well, at any rate, my taste in classical is leaning heavily towards the 20th century music which is very, very, obscure and very few people would listen to a lot of them. I mean, if you made those people listen to the piece I linked to (it's called "Stimmung,") I think that there's a very good chance that a lot of people would question whether or not it even counts as music. They might find Chopin's waltzes dull, but at least they'll recognise that it is, technically music.
