Sometimes it is better to stay occupied, even if you feel like shit. I hope working helps your status mentally. All the best, buddy.

Yeah, that's a large part of my reasons for going back. Keeping my brain occupied and live interaction with adults is key to maintaining sanity.

If work doesn't work out, join a club of some sorts.

That's not a bad idea at all.

I've been trying to keep myself busy, spending too much time here, for example. I've been working on doing some musical arrangements off and on. I've gotten out a couple of times to play cards with friends.

What's been missing is any form of structure, which has resulted in an undisciplined pursuit of intellectual stimulation. It can be hard to appreciate how important structure can be until you have none (much like many things in life that are taken for granted).

I realize this sounds odd, but when I was younger, I volunteered at a local senior center. I had a schedule. I would play Bingo, cards and they even had a pool table. When I was older, I would help with the food and getting them around. It was quite fulfilling.

Well, finally, 4 months into this saga, some good news.

Got the results of the ultrasound from the doc today - the left leg is shows no sign of clotting, and the thrombosis in the right is diminished, and no longer occlusive. Thanks to four months of high-dosage treatment with Warfarin (rat poison, eeek!), it looks like this thing is not going to kill me after all - at least not for a long time.

The diagnosis of APS (antiphospholipid syndrome) was confirmed, so I'll be on anticoagulants long-term, but that beats the hell out of the alternative.
