I've had enough of your preaching and arrogance. You shit all over other religions, as well as atheism, trying to leave yourself the only one smelling of roses. I'm done. You have sadly chosen a path of perpetual ignorance. I hope one day you will pick up a science book and learn something. You don't have to instantly believe everything you read in a science book; you shouldn't. But to not even try because you've already decided it is all simply wrong, that is being closed minded.

RE: What are the evidence for no god?
The evidence against the Christian God is how errant the bible is. The Bible claims the earth was made in a 6 day period, 6000 years ago. The Earth is well over 6000 years old. It's 4.5 billion years old. So the people writing the bible were obviously not influenced by God. Otherwise they would have known the age of the Earth.

The creationist myth states that God created the heavens and the earth first. Then he created light. He created plants before he created the sun, and we know now that plants need the sun to survive. How would plants survive without sunlight?

Adam and Eve were then put in a garden with a talking Snake. Now I don't know about you, but I haven't seen any talking snakes. Some believe the snake was the devil -- in which case why did God punish the snake? If the devil possessed the snake (and it doesn't state this in the bible) why did God punish the snake? Why did God let the snake tell Eve to eat the fruit? Why did he not interrupt the snake? Because it would destroy the narrative.

Then you have Noah. There's so many problems with that story, but they can all be answered with "God did it." How did enough species of animals fit on the ark? God did it. It's not a satisfying answer at all, nor is it logical because God had to have Noah build the ark. One thing cannot be answered by "God did it" however. And that is why the story of Noah isn't found in every culture over the course of time. Even if God somehow preserved the pyramids, managed to feed all of those animals, stopped them from killing each other, got them back to their home countries without leaving any evidence behind of them ever being anywhere else... the story of Noah would still be in every culture. Because everyone would descend from Noah's three sons, and an important story like that would not be erased from time. Yet it doesn't exist in other cultures.

And how about the Plagues of Egypt? If they actually occurred, why is there no Egyptian Record of it? How did Egypt survive the plagues? The plagues would have surely crippled them to the point where the Jews wouldn't even had to have left. That's not something you leave out of your history. All the deaths of the livestock, the locusts, not to mention the death of the first born child of every Egyptian and all the dead Egyptians that followed Moses to the Red Sea. Somehow the Egyptians forgot about all of that.

Then we get to Jesus, who endorsed the errant old testament. Were he truly God, with the Old Testament as filled with errors as it was he would have warned against it. He'd have also done far more impressive things than minor miracles such as walking on water and healing a leper. All done by 'magic', rather than using medicine and knowledge that wasn't available to man.

The burden of proof is on the believer. And the bible makes for a poor source. Any answers it brings just raises more questions. It was clearly written for a time when men understood little, and couldn't find the answer so they believed that the answer had to be God. When one makes up their own answer, they'll find it to be wrong.

If I am wrong about hell not existing for Christians upon death to burn in, you will burn in hell. But if I am right, then we both will die and rest in peace after that, no problem.

But to be on the safe side, you should assume I'm wrong. Therefore, it is essential that you stop being a Christian!

Heaven is the place where true Christians will go to be with God forever.  Hell is where people who think they are Christians, but really they are not and everyone else who does not accept that Jesus Christ died on the cross for everyone and rose again on the third day.  This is what I believe and in general, this is what most Christians believe. Therefore, this is why it is essential you drop the non-belief and walk into the light.

Fake Christians are the people who acted on the outside that they were Christians, but on the inside, they never were.

It's a shame, this is one of several people who started out quite polite and reasonable. When unable to properly defend their position, they start lashing out and the facade drops. They just want validation, they want us to say all their beliefs are wonderful and rational.

Whether they are real people with a very short pretence of civility or just trolls messing with us, I can't tell. There's so much people can learn from the variety of expertise on this forum, but religion makes people afraid to think.

Burden of non-existence also comes on you all.  You can't prove that God doesn't.

I don't claim god doesn't exist. I just am unconvinced and consider him no more probable than the FSM. I can't prove the FSM doesn't exist either. Is the onus on me to prove that there isn't a Flying Spaghetti Monster?  No.

What?  Does that sound like a prayer to me?  I can't believe this coming from someone with your non-beliefs.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

The monkey example and the common ape.  Where is the common ape?  Where is the proof that we came from a common ape?  Maybe when the common ape is found, then maybe I will come to another conclusion.  You all will never find the proof that it takes.

Fake Christians are the people who acted on the outside that they were Christians, but on the inside, they never were.

Look, Blondie, I know this is what they teach you in Bible Camp, but it's just not true. Many of us here, myself included, really thought we were having a "personal relationship with Jesus".  The power of even very intelligent people (I am very intelligent) to delude ourselves through the psychology of group-think, to use a generic term, is amazing.

Worse, Christianity teaches you that it is a virtue to close your mind to the things your brain notices that might challenge that group hysteria in which you participate; it tells you that the worst thing you can do is to question the source of the feelings you interpret as God speaking to you. To learn "outside" information becomes dangerous and potentially evil; this is the sure mark of a cult. Since you already have based your whole world concept on the idea that some thoughts are "sinful", it is not hard to instill this programming in you.

Some of us just couldn't quite block out the thousands of ways in which the teachings of Christianity and the Bible conflict with testable, measurable reality... places where the "magic" fails, and we committed the ultimate sin: we began to think for ourselves.

Once I saw that I was deluding myself, I ceased to connect the feelings of awe and wonder to my belief, and I found I still felt the same way about things that were not just prayer-related. The only personal relationship I had had was with my own brain and the imaginary friend I had created.

So it's not that I was never a Christian, not that I never believed. In fact, I was such an outspoken Believer that I was selected early to begin training as one of the church's young ministers in youth outreach programs, and I was so "on fire for Jesus" (as we said back then) that I probably annoyed "regular" Christians. And yet here I am, telling you that you are deluding yourself, as I was.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.
