Nope. God is a scam, created to facilitate control over dumb people.

Just a raging skeptic. Need to know motives before I am comfortable.

I guess both, or more likely - the reasons the God was created were good, as they always are, but there were people that used religion for their own benefits. That's all there is.
Fuck, you seem to be pretty convinced about the future of Catholic Church, that surprizes me. One more thing surprizes me - you Guys seem to be pretty "religious" in terms of being atheistic. You react to my words exactly as my Catholic friends react to my graphic novel Atheism can be as much evil as the worst religion.

Are you asserting that the reasons for everything are always good?

Yep. Not having beliefs, not having dogma, not going to church, not discouraging critical thought and being individuals. Sooo religious. -_-

Its still one of the most popular religions, so I'm afraid this might take a while
Yeah... they sure are drawing a crowd.
Won't be worth keeping the lights on at this rate.

soloowaty, you make Nojesus weep with your shameless accusations.

As an atheist who has been playing organ for Catholic Mass for the last 25 years . . . (I'm cutting down to ONE Mass in two weeks, and sometime after that I will be FREE!! FREE!! BWAhahahah . . . ) (oh where was I? Oh yeah, Catholics.) Well . . . I have questioned quite a few Catholic Priests. Many don't take the Bible literally. Many don't believe in hell. (Of course, some still do.) I asked why, then, Jesus died and rose again, and was told 1) to show his commitment to his ministry, and 2) he may not have actually risen from the dead. They already take a Gospel reading, and preach on "how this can speak to us today" and "how these words can help us reach out to the needy and suffering". So I think that they will change - - a lot. I think that the idea of literal transubstantiation will go by the wayside, and there will be married priests (I already know two.) and female priests. I think that it will become more of a weekend social justice club.

Well, you're right. I got carried away. What I meant was, that hatred towards religion is not a good thing. That's all. But I shouldn't be saying that, knowing that I'm new here, I'm sorry!

I do agree with that. I think Catholic Church has so much money, that it'll stay with us for next 2000 years, build space ships. And it will evolve, because like every corporation, they have a 'follow-the-client' mentality. But I might be wrong.
My aim was on peaceful discussion about possibilities, not wanted to offend anyone here.

Nothing personal on my part. Getting mad at internet strangers is my 4th favorite hobby. Now:
NOT A GOOD THING?!
You mean like genitally mutilating children, flying planes into buildings, burning people alive, stoning them to death, oppressing them our telling them that the only defense against a deadly disease they have causes more harm than the disease, causing the otherwise easily preventable death of millions??
Like those not good things?
