Then you didn't really read it or you'd be asking better questions.

-_-

I did read it, and I don't see why it must follow. Is it impossible for the universe to be created by a first cause not possessing these qualities? Because if no, that's a non sequitur.

Look, I'm not shitting you, I'm trying to understand it. But you're doing a lot of hand waving and linking to other posts. Can you please explain it like you would to someone who doesn't speak English as a first language? ._.

eta: ok, upon reading about all 5 ways, I'm confused as to why you would even take it seriously. The first three and the last one are just common theist arguments and likewise fallacious, and the fourth one is absolutely nonsensical. Nothing follows.

Because humans love to create gods in our image. Oh, and the Bible say so. So that settles it. "God" must be very much like a human mind or consciousness like human consciousness. Like humans in what way? Can't say. Tongue

Chad, will you please answer a question for once? Your deflections are annoying as hell. Seriously dude, a straight answer.
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.

Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.

Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.

Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.

He can't.  No religious person can.  That's why they're so laughable.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.

You op presupposes a time line.

If God is infinite how then can we apply Him to a measure that has a beginning and end?

No, I think you misunderstand. It's not applied to god itself, but your reasoning.

I'm asking the question with the cosmological argument in mind, which argues for a first cause. I'd like to know why this first cause is your personal god. IOW, what line of reasoning led you to that conclusion?
