Horizontal, less lifting.

The current “theory” is that the universe came into being from some explosion called the Big Bang. The standard Big Bang theory does not match smoothness of the cosmic background radiation. So the theory of Inflation was added to the standard Big Bang. That is the latest conjecture of modern science.
Now there are many problems with this “answer” to the origin of the universe. If nothing existed before the Big Bang, then the Big Bang violates a number of principle and laws of science. It violates conservation of mass-energy. The energy went from nothing to all the energy of the universe. It violates cause and effect. Nothing never just explodes and becomes something. It violates all observations, since nothing never just explodes into something. It also does not explain the origin of the laws of nature or why there is even order in the universe.
If something existed before the Big Bang, then the origin question is not answered at all. If the universe always existed, then the 2nd law of thermodynamics says that all order disappeared an infinite time ago. But that is not the case. Also there is still no explanation of the origin of the laws of nature or why there is even order in the universe.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!

The universe exists because quantum foam created a particle that continued to evolve until hydrogen was formed. Once celestial hydrogen in created in a sufficient amount its gravity clumps it up into giant balls. The balls of hydrogen then go nuclear and a star is formed. The star's furnace cooks the hydrogen into heavier elements. At some point the star explodes and throws those heavier elements out into space. Gravity does its magic and hydrogen clumps together into a new ball which goes nuclear producing a new star. The heavier elements produce their own gravity fields and clump together into balls of their own. The whole system eventually equalizes and orbits the star. Under the right conditions the heavier mineral rich planets will have a solid iron-nickel core surrounded by a molten covering. The planet's internal furnace will produce heat, gases, water, and other fluids such as oil but only if the planet is "alive" and has sufficient internal stresses.
Mercury is dead. Venus is alive but sick. It's very hot but it does have an atmosphere.
Earth is healthy. Mars is on its death bed. Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune are alive but their atmospheres are poisonous to our life forms.
And we are space aliens from the Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy which has been assimilated by the larger Milky Way Galaxy. There's no God character in our solar system.

While it is true that science does not have a complete theory as to the origin of the universe, as in what caused the big bang, it at least tries to look for what actually happened. Religion, on the other hand, starts with the completely unsubstantiated theory, and then doesn't bother to look to see if that is what actually happened.
One is a much more reliable and useful path to the truth, and the other the most reliable and useful path to total ignorance, and if you need help figuring out which is which it is likely you are already beyond our help.
I would more generally advocate that one only leave one entrance into their mind(reason), and keep the rest of it rather closed, as it is one hell of a lot easier to shovel shit in than it is to get it out.
If the evidence and reason for you to believe something isn't really any better than the reason you should believe some rural farmer from Arkansas got anally probed by interstellar visitors, then you probably shouldn't.
