The tower of babel

The tower of babel
Given god you know destroyed the tower separating humanity in that story it makes you wonder why.
Thinking it over it hit me god is afraid of humans and what they can achieve that being said god in the bible is not immortal but a mortal asshole with powers.
So yeah that's about it.

He pretty much says as much in the story. This was before the idea that Yahweh was this omnipotent creator god. Yahweh is against people coming together as one species, because there's nothing we can't do when we work together.

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

Having tribes/societies striving and competing against each other is good. I'm not crediting bible scribes with getting one right however.

And as for explaining the existence of all the languages, the Babel story is ludicrous.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

The thing is the bible itself shows he is omni anything. I mean there is parts of the bible where is clearly a liar as well and even parts of the bible where
he doesn't know anything. He is powerful sure he just isn't all powerful.

RE: The tower of babel
I don't know. If the Abrahamic God of the bible was afraid of humans, he'd have killed them. That was sort of his thing, wasn't it? Flooding the earth, killing people because their king took a census, pretty much killing was his go to. In this one instance he decides "I'll just divide up their languages," instead of slaughtering them all again (maybe he met his quota?)

I imagine when Moses was writing the old Testament (assuming he did) people kept asking him questions. An Atheists of the time probably asked, "Well why are there different languages Moses? I mean we're all descended from Noah, so we should all speak one language." And Moses decided to come up with whatever he could to explain it away. Perhaps borrowing from other myths he had heard.

"Yeah," said Moses. "God did it. People were building a tower to the heavens, and God decided to give us all different languages."

"That's your answer to everything isn't it," asked the Atheist. "God did it. I could write this story.. geez..."

And thus was born the idea to stone non-believers.

RE: The tower of babel
The Tower of Babel is a story about the fall of Babylon.  In case you've forgotten Noah's great-grandson Nimrod became the boss of Babylon and he went on to build cities in Assyria, including the capital Nineveh.

Genesis 10:8-12Modern English Version (MEV)

8 Cush was the father of Nimrod. He became a mighty one on the earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord. Therefore it is said, “Even like Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.” 10 The beginning of his kingdom was Babel,[a] Uruk, Akkad, and Kalneh in the land of Shinar. 11 From that land he went to Assyria and built Nineveh, the city Rehoboth Ir, and Calah, 12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (that is the principal city).
Footnotes:
Genesis 10:10 Or Babylon.

The interesting thing is that Noah's family became the big wigs in the area but a lot of the Bible stories rant and whine about Babylon (Babel) being the rotten egg.

Another example of small minded thinking...

Tell me sandy, have you ever watched a movie who plot line centered around time travel? Even if you are not a time travel movie fan, I'm sure you get the basic primise. Change something in the past, even something very small and it can have a dramatic consenquences in the future. The further back you go the greater the change to the future. God said the reason He confused the languages of man was not because of the tower persay, it was because whatever we come together to do we would accomplish. Now only simpleton would assume from that time till this 'man' would only come together to do 'good things.' Look at all of human History, and tell me you only see 'good' things. Look just at WWII and the pure evil that came from it. Now if all of man were united on Hitler's front, and 'we' decided to wipe away one single portion of the population, what would stop us? Now try and imagine how many times this would have played out from the time of bable till now. Who would be left?

We are here, because God confused the language of man. Change that and man may not have survived this long.
