Thiests - Assuming God exists, why should we worship him?
November 12, 2010 at 11:59 am
This one is open to all worshipers of the god that goes under the aliases of Allah/Jehova/Yahweh and whatever else. Basically any religion which has at its core the first 5 books of the bible. The Abrahamic ones.
Let us all assume that "God" appeared and revealed himself to everyone. Said something like, ok, i'm not so fussed over the exact religious books you followed, all you believers got bits and pieces wrong, but you all get into heaven. Any atheists who also worship me in one of the proscribed ways can also get into heaven. Those who don't go to hell... with the fire and the torture and the devils with pointy sticks etc.
Scientists investigate, chat with "God", etc and even though the most skeptical doubt whether this "God" is of supernatural or divine origin, they all agree that it is a superior being who, when cross examined came up with convincing proof that he indeed was responsible for the creation of life and possibly the entire universe.
Now, theists, tell us why we should bend over and take it up the ass from God? Because, from my perspective, i'd still be asking God for Satan's phone number.
Oh, and lets have a poll for the non-theists (deists, pagans etc are included as non-theists)... theists please refrain from voting... we know you would love to suck God's enormously divine member.

You haven't got the first clue as to what god even is. You have no business asking such a question.

A perfect being requires no worship from others, a perfectly immoral being however, is a totally different animal.

Neither do you, but that only seem to promote your confidence in asserting exactly what he is, as if the act of overconfidence alone sufficies to entitle you to be taken seriously.

Certainly not worth worshipping by modern standards. I guess if you were a shit scared, bemused bronze age goat herder told these ghost stories you might feel compelled to. Luckily god doesn't exist:
1. If God exists, then he is perfect.
2. If God exists, he wants us to worship him.
3. A perfect being can have no needs or wants.
4. Hence, it is impossible for God to exist.

I'd choose to work with God through his anger management issues. Perhaps he has had some emotional trauma in his past that is responsible for his current state. Maybe his father was neglectful and his mother was a manna-holic. It is clear that if he existed, he would be a deeply disturbed being, and would need to be treated with care. Not unlike a small child or a mental patient. With enough time and effort on humanity's part, the healing of this addled deity could finally begin.
