Well, sort of.   But dis-associative identity disorder has been extensively studied and is listed as an actual disorder by the American Psychiatric Association.  Holding onto dogmas is not considered a disorder.   Yet.    Deadpan

its still nothing more than a subjective opinion and not scientifically proven to be true just like all subjective theories

Fucking hell Jenny if I thought that one voice that I heard one time for a few seconds was God talking to me I'd be seriously psychotic.

Talking to God is one thing, thinking God talks to you is pretty damn fucked up.

or i could be right

Specifics, please.

i describe it in my welcome thread http://atheistforums.org/thread-37161.html

communication involves mostly feeling a strong insistent sudden inspiration to do/say something online or offline and i follow the direction and the perfect words come to me that i did not have , me asking for clarification and understanding and getting that clarification and understanding . sometimes what comes into my mind is like a mental visual parable for example one time i had this image in  my mind of bowls that humanity constantly creates for God and how they are similar to bowls that children create and how children think the bowls are so important and are needed by the parents but are really unnecessary . mental visuals that are symbolic and also just understanding of things that i was previously uncertain about .

or right now you would be having a real relationship with God if you were not so stubbornly against the possibility that God existed .

Rather than admitting to my friends I let Creepy Lewis fuck me over the weekend, I think I will tell them breathlessly the god Apollo did it, and it was REALLY amazing !!!

I was already experiencing mental health problems at the time. If I had told people it was God talking to me I would have been sent straight back to the acute mental health ward.

i dont trust the opinions of athiest psychiatrists to diagnose my experiences with God that they obviously wouldnt understand . thats like going to a doctor that has an incomplete education regarding your illness their diagnosis is going to be wrong . but if this is something that happened to you a lot there might be something physically wrong with you such as a tumor i was under the impression it just happened once .

did you even bother getting any physical tests done by a real doctor such as a brain scan to determine that you did not have a brain tumor or other physical illness causing this or did you just automatically assume you were crazy and make a straight beeline to a psychiatrist ?

I have had a brain scan... no physical symptoms...

No I've heard voices twice and the other time I don't even remember the details of anymore and it was milder.

I've been on mental health wards before for other reasons but that would have been more than enough to admit to a ward.

And no it wasn't atheist doctors saying that because a bunch of them were religious and as far as I know my Psych was a Christian too. To be a fucking professional you have to keep your beliefs separate from fucking medicine and health.
