The Last Movie You Watched
RE: The Last Movie You Watched
I didn't know what Disney bought Pixar, actually. I don't think this is a good thing either. Companies need competition to motivate making quality products.

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

Inside Out by Disney. Or Pixar. Or both. It was a nice movie, though it basically dealt with a girl going through depression.

Pixar is dead. It's corpse now just another head of the Disney-Hydra beast that cares nothing for quality. Originality has been replaced with marketability and I expect nothing of any real consequence to come from Pixar in the future. No "Toy Story," "Bug's Life," or "Monsters Inc." will come from the once great studio who's shell remains only for the purpose of name recognition.

Star Wars will die the same gruesome death that has come to Pixar, unless Disney allows someone else to maintain creative control (Walden Media and "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" or Jerry Bruckheimer and "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl") and just brands the movies with the Disney logo.

I disagree, coming in here to post about Inside Out which is one of the best things ever. Tongue

I've come to accept that I actually like Disney. Undecided

Yeah, they did something special with Inside Out.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

Just saw Tomorrowland.
It could have been a good movie - good premise, good suspense, and good effects for the "future" scenes.  It tried to have a good message.  (We need good scientists to make the world a better place and we need 'em 50 years ago!)  But there were SO many slow moments and plot holes - it just didn't work well.  Not recommended.

We watched it and were amused. However, your criticisms are valid.  Undecided

Yeah, I heard Inside Out was good...

I haven't actually seen it myself.

Wait, you did see the other Pirates movies, right? Especially that last one, I mean puuuuuuke... The second and third one are somewhat tolerable but no where near as creative or interesting as COTBP. It stands on the shoulders of the first movie, relies on similar a story-telling device (a ship full of cursed/magical pirates), and all you think the whole time is "Who gives a crap about Will and Elizabeth, I want to see more Jack Sparrow!"

What's wrong with Disney? Their feature-length animations were my childhood...

The wife and I saw The Intern over the weekend. Her idea. I was hoping for Bridge of Spies but was outvoted 1-1, as husbands often are.

It was good in a predictable way, but some scenes stretched for too long. The whole time I sat there, I kept thinking, "When exactly did they neuter De Niro to make him so tame and audience friendly?" I kept flashing back to Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, and Raging Bull -- disturbing roles of fire and passion. Don't get me wrong. He was very good in this film, certainly the best thing about it. And I understand that people age, and he will never again see the kinds of roles he played in his prime. But seeing him play in support of Anne Hathaway made me a bit sad.

I watched Edge of Tomorrow last night and was extremely surprised. For a blockbuster, I thought it was excellent. Very imaginative. When it ended I wanted more. Maybe it's for the best to have a little one-off pearl, but man, I think they can probably squeeze at least one more good movie on the premise.

I'm tempted to say that I want a videogame made of it, but really, what they did is made a movie with videogame logic, so a videogame would be kind of moving backwards.
