Just to be clear - the BBC does block VPNs from accessing iPlayer where they can. I can't ever access it directly from http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/, yet the get_iplayer program usually works with VPN for some reason, even though the website doesn't! But then again, according to the BBC VPN's are "IP obfuscation tools used by Australians to circumvent geo-blocking technologies" and that it is "reasonable to expect that ISPs monitor VPN usage" and "assume that people who are 'heavy users of IP obfuscation tools' are using them to infringe the BBC's copyright", and that "customers caught using them should have their internet slowed or disconnected in the 'most serious' cases". Proof:
Quote:This situation is further amplified by the adoption of virtual private networks (VPNs) and proxy servers by some users, allowing them to circumvent geo-blocking technologies and further evade detection.
...
It is reasonable for ISPs to be placed under an obligation to identify user behaviour that is ‘suspicious’ and indicative of a user engaging in conduct that infringes copyright. Such behaviour may include the illegitimate use by internet users of IP obfuscation tools in combination with high download volumes.
...
Possible sanctions could include subjecting repeat offenders to a slowing down of their bandwith [sic] but stopping short of cutting off the internet service, save except in the most serious and egregious circumstances, as is the case in the United States.

I'm sick and tired of all this stupid foreshadowing of the doctors death. It's been done to death. He's not going to die, ever! So move the fuck on, you stupid lazy writers.

It was done rather well with The Watcher. But I'll tell you what is rather lazy is having the sonic shades make holograms - even though they were no where near the holograms and the doctor's hologram was made despite the shades being held in stasis.

To be honest, I'd like it if the sonic screwdriver took a break entirely - no shades, no sonic anything. The first doctor never had one, and neither did Sylvester McCoy, the seventh.
The Maisie Williams character I'm not at all interested in. Hell the actress is only 18, and she's supposedly playing an un-ageing timeless entity - let's guess how long that will last shall we? It seems like a complete rehash of the Jack Harkness storyline. Perhaps Moffat really is just channelling RTD, but in an obviously inferior way. I mean really, why do we see Maisie Williams the first time, and then in the very next episode see her again but "hundreds of years later"? Classic Who never relied on pushing events together like that, they would simply build on events from past episodes in past series - and achieved it very well.
I wasn't at all convinced that she would "forget her name" either. I mean, her parents called her by her name, hell even my dumb cat knows his name. It gets hard-wired into your brain - if you hear your name in a busy environment like a shopping centre it captures your attention, even if it's not directed at you or spoken by someone you know.
And as for Osgood's retcon next episode- fucking stick by your decision Moffat. You want to kill-off a character than do it and be done, retconning undermines the principle of mortality like nothing else.

I saw it a rehash of Clara Oswald. A young attractive girl looks after the doctors timeline throughout history.

Works for me using the Private Internet Access VPN. The bit about ISPs doing something is laughable if you use a secure VPN. All they will see is the VPN connection and the amount of data being transferred, not what the data actually is. ISPs (at least in my experience) tend to require actual evidence of wrongdoing to do something to their customer's connection. Using a VPN is not evidence of wrongdoing.

Agree. Reminds of a scene in The Day of the Doctor where the Hurt Doctor chastises the Smith and Tennant Doctors for constantly brandishing their screwdrivers.
