What could Redeem Humans?

RE: What could Redeem Humans?
OK, I interpreted that last comment as "Stop thinking, do Milla."  Big Grin

I'm big on the idea of space exploration and colonization, thinking that we cannot effectively clean the litter box until we get the cats out of it. And killing all the cats is not progressive thinking.

Redeem?  No, that term hearkens back to original sin against some deity.

I'm unwilling to even use the word "sin".  Although - - humans are scum.  Really.  We are horribly selfish creatures.  The quest for power robs us of empathy.  Our basic nature is violent, tribal, xenophobic.  We instinctively judge, hate change, and hate anything we don't understand.

So . . . redeem?  Save the planet and the species, and all the tree-hugger stuff?

EDUCATION.

Scientific, sociological, psychological, anthropological, historical . . . don't forget artistic . . .

EDUCATION.

I just misread the OP as "What would redeem my sense of humor?".

FML I guess even I know I'm an unfunny cunt!

I don't think we're in need of redemption. Humanity as a whole has done a lot more good than you give it credit for. Tongue

Do we ask what could redeem the bear? Or the lion? We're animals. Redemption is just the wish that we're more than that.

Well said. Humans are just animals that think they're important.

RE: What could Redeem Humans?
Look, I'm a lot of things. I'm a chordate, a biped and a mammal as well as a human. But I don't identify as one. I identify as one of many living things on this planet. I win when the planet abounds with diverse life forms. The human portion of the biomass is disproportionately large and negatively impacts the well being of the entire web. This displeases me. I won't be happy to see living human beings face untimely ends but I will be happy for the planet when there are many fewer of us. I'd like to see a far, far smaller portion of the land serving human needs, making room for habitat for inhumanity.

I redeem on a weekly basis. The grocery has never refused to accept one of my coupons. Therefore, I have experienced redemption, the only kind of redemption that I want.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
