Waste.  Not Waist.

This is a waist:

Whereas your post was a "waste".

Taking potshots in a goodbye thread?

Stay classy, brotha.

Not really, just noticed recently how many comments are on how life is a waste of time, is all.  Not taking potshots at anyone, just an observation.

He was ugly anyway. Kitan, sometimes you are just an ugly human being. 69 is a fucking awesome age to die. He lived longer than I'd wanna live. It's the exact number of years I want to live, Well yeah, like I said already earlier 69 is a fucking awesome age to die. I just wanna die in my late 30's or so. I'd want to die at that age too Yeah... if I did the same I'd only have about 10 years left (I'm 27) and yet my young years were fucking shit and I'm happier now than ever. What difference does it make if someone is alive or not? What should hold someone out from committing suicide if there is no meaning or purpose to this pathetic of an excuse of time on this shithole of a planet?.. To fuck and die.
Kind of dark for a Pony :o Such hostility. In both of your posts. Quote: "I hate that word". Quote: " I hate this attitude". Quote: " I do hate celebrities like musicians and sports stars and politicians saying "you can do it"". Quote: I really don't give one fuck what your definition of "success is".". All we do is eat sleep complain have fun and piss each other off and now and then have wars over the dumbest things. But I've often wondered - why live? To survive? Why survive? To enjoy the pleasures of life? Are they really worth the hardships though? After all, when you die, you just doesn't exist anymore, so why even bother? All these years of hardships after hardships only to just die one day.
The reward is significantly lower than the effort you put in though, won't you say?

Why isn't this jumped on,  'you just doesn't exist anymore'?   One little observational stereotype and the defensiveness comes out.  I must have run across a lot of it as I was looking around, sounds a bit negative to me, no?  I would have thought this group would be more unbiased as most others and have a great outlook on life is all.

Well, that would be because Kitan is Kitan. And frankly, I for one don't take Kitan too seriously, since he loves to cultivate the image of uncaring.

On the other hand, what do you expect? I for one didn't know David Bowie personally. So his demise isn't a loss to my personal life, other than having loved his music. I reserve my mourning for my lost loved ones. In all honesty, most people do. People who do mourn a total stranger are either obsessed or lying to themselves.

You see, though, Bard, you're doing that thing where you see what some people, who are atheists, say, and then attribute that to "this group", being, "atheists" or "atheists on this forum."

Did you read most of the posts that celebrated Bowie's life while simultaneously regretting his passing? Like how I said I'm in mourning?

You're cherry-picking some minority-viewpoint comments and bootstrapping them onto the rest of us, which is a real shame when so many of us are pretty clearly saddened by the passing of a legend...

Don't worry, my friend.  If this be the end, then so shall it be.

Or just using "mourning" to mean something slightly different than how you mean it.

I didn't wear all black today, call off work, and cry.

I did spend time thinking about the life of a man I didn't know, reflected on my sadness at his passing, and played Bowie in my car and at the office all day long in tribute.

I think the English language is flexible enough that the word "mourning" can encompass both of the above

ROFLOL

Okay:

(1) We have a quote function for a reason and that reason is to properly attribute a quote to its poster so others can go reference it in context if needed.

(2) I don't see how the quotes you took from this thread are commenting on how life "is a waste of time."  One is Kitan being Kitan, one is insulting Kitan, and the others are discussing at what age they would prefer to die while not commenting at all on whether the life lived before the death is a waste of time or not - in fact, Evie's quote, which you included above, specifically states that "I'm happier now than ever."  He certainly doesn't appear to think that his life is a waste of time.

(3) You're lifting your other examples from the What is the Meaning of Life thread and inferring that they are somehow representative of the forums and the general usership's attitudes about whether life is a waste of time?  Are you fucking kidding me?
