I just wonder if you could help me understand a certain "attitude" I notice from a lot of atheists, including Hitchens, Dawkins and other luminaries.
Not all atheists are this way, but it seems there is a presumptuous certainty from a lot of them.
They seem so convinced there is no God, and seek fit to make fun of and belittle those who just want to believe. There seems to be sort of a strain of intolerance, and an inability to accept they could possibly be wrong ( that's why they are atheists not agnostics !)
I see this hatred and intolerance toward theists manifest in different, sometimes petty ways. From the uppity secular group that wants the public nativity scene down, to the professor expelled for daring to teach alternative theories on life, to the student suspended for wearing a "I Jesus " t-shirt.
It's like some atheists... just don't like people who are different from them. . Sometimes the intolerance gets to be downright hateful and angry.
A dear friend of mine from church was at a gay pride parade this summer. He was just there to talk to the homosexuals gathered, to give them a "different" or "diverse" take on their lifestyle and their consequences. Instead of treating him with respect and dignity the gays ( and one scary lesbian!!!) screamed at him, spat at him and said he was a "creepy fascist" and should "fudge off!"
You atheists know more than I do. Where does this attitude come from? Shouldn't we all be able to get along and exchange ideas peacefully?
Atheists seem so smart... but so provinical and limited as well.. I really would like some clarification please
What if I went to a church in the middle of a service to tell people a diverse or different take on their lifestyle? What response could I expect?

I just feel it important to call attention to how theists are sometimes treated.
They often are picked on, or made to feel bad by non-believers, just for believing.
I just think that sort of attitude isn't helpful
I can honestly say I've not been treated this way here. I think where people are coming from and making the claims of trying to 'incite' is that you are making general claims and attributing to a group and asking them to explain when in reality, most on here are not that way at all. It would be more helpful if you started with a specific claim or statement from Hitchens/Dawkins or other luminaries you mention and give your thoughts and ask others their thoughts. Instead you lump everyone who claims to be atheists together and tell them how they treat theists without citing any specific incident. It's an unfair characterization and misrepresentation.
If you want to genuinely have a conversation, limit your scope and ask other their opinions about a specific statement. Put down your broad brushes and finger pointing sticks.

But you ARE inciting.
An earlier post already made the point that atheists feel the same way about how religious people pick on them just for not believing. How would I be treated in a christian forum if I showed up and said 'I don't believe you and here's why...' Only to later post another thread about asking why christians are so mean?
I'm sure I would be treated with disdain in TrueChristian fashion.

A true statement, whether the OP is a POE or being serious.
He's failing fractally.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Yes I am Christian. The fact that you think there are "teams" outside of humanity speaks volumes. I'm not against anyone. We are all humans and face the same battles and all fail. I am no different than anyone else and neither are you.

It seems to be of a naked woman, which is innapropriate in nearly every setting.
There's nothing wrong with having a female figure as part your avatar, but could you please tone it down a bit?
There are likely married men on this forum!

Wait. Look at the web site. Affiliated with Covenant Health, a catholic nonprofit. It all make perfect sense now.

From Wiki.
In short, OP is a dirty POE and deserves no serious answers or consideration at all by the General

So... The OP is a religious extremist, or she is pretending to be one? Sorry... Having a brain fart today...
