So atheists are tax cheats?

Charming.

I don't suppose you have anything other than your opinion to back this up?

I don't think all atheists are tax cheats. I just think I would be one if I was an atheist. I would call myself being pragmatic in order to justify it.

What's meaningless is any pretense of care and concern, when you'd really just like to "win one for the team." Don't bother denying it; You've already admitted that you'd be a selfishly callous, criminally-minded bastard without your bedtime story.

So, obviously giving a shit doesn't come naturally to you.
Sleazy weasel.

Gee.  All I said was that I'd cheat on my taxes if I was an atheist!  I know of more that one atheist who tries to get theists to become atheists because they honestly want to do what's best for those individuals.  I guess that's OK with you, but not the other way around.  I get slapped around all the time in this forum and I don't recall any atheist telling the slappers that they are scum for being mean to me.  And I wasn't even being mean!  Grow up and take a look at your own posts.  Listening to you all would make somebody think that you're all paragons of virtue.

I didn't say all. The post I was responding to in conjunction with your prior post on the topic appears to imply that you think atheists are more likely to cheat on their taxes.

I didn't intend to imply that. I was talking only about myself, but I can see how you could take that meaning from it. Being a christian does keep me from doing many things that I would otherwise do. It's just a fact.

Frankly, I've been a lot happier with my life, myself, and the world around me since I gave up religion. Specifically, in my case, Catholicism.

Please tell me you are joking.

You don't pay taxes because you believe in Jesus, Iran and Saudi Arabia have tax codes too and their citizens pay taxes too.

A middle class or poor person would have more of a justification to fudge on their returns. The NFL and GE cheat by having congress write laws for them. The Walmart family and the Kochs and the bank CEOs get away with not paying more taxes because they have our congress write the laws for them.

If you were an atheist, your tax class would be the least of my worries, the party you vote for would be. And the same would be true for me with any Christian. Your label doesn't mean shit to me. Our nation's economic stability in whole does. And 30 years of protecting trickle up economics and corporate welfare in the form of tax breaks for the rich has not worked.

A fast food worker as an individual cannot afford a fleet of lawyers or a superpac like a CEO.

I do pay taxes because I'm a christian.

Most fast food workers in the US don't pay income taxes. In fact, they get extra money in the form of "earned income credit". Nothing against them - just a fact.

Personally, I think it's pretty messed up that you need a supernatural authoritarian belief system to keep you obeying the law.
