RE: Ronald Reagan $50 bill
Isn't there an unwritten rule that a country needs to put its own citizens on its own money?

I would hope so, it would be rather funny if America put someone like Democritus on one of their bills..Tongue

I was suprised when Ronald Reagan died, that nobody suggested he should be buried in a pyramid.

The entire fascist wing of the GOP ( and their Tea Bagging lackeys) have conveniently forgotten a lot about Reagan.

Quote:Reagan was a serial tax raiser. As governor of California, Reagan “signed into law the largest tax increase in the history of any state up till then.” Meanwhile, state spending nearly doubled. As president, Reagan “raised taxes in seven of his eight years in office,” including four times in just two years. As former GOP Senator Alan Simpson, who called Reagan “a dear friend,” told NPR, “Ronald Reagan raised taxes 11 times in his administration — I was there.” “Reagan was never afraid to raise taxes,” said historian Douglas Brinkley, who edited Reagan’s memoir. Reagan the anti-tax zealot is “false mythology,” Brinkley said.

And more.

I never suggested putting Darwin on American money...what I suggested was putting non-political (but otherwise epic) American's on your money. Here are a few off the top of my head:

General Patton
Martin Luther King, Jr
Thomas Edison

etc...

Yes, but I can buy her movies for less than 50 dollar so why bother?

RE: Ronald Reagan $50 bill
I just saw the third option you decided to put in there, and I thought that if we were to change the face on the $50 bill, it would be the best to change the face to Teddy Roosevelt. After all, Grant, great general as he may have been, is universally considered to be a poor president, and Reagan, is... polarizing to say the least. The left hates him, and the right loves his legend, but would love him less if they bothered to look objectively at it. On the other hand, Theodore Roosevelt... just look at Edmund Morris' biographies of him. He effectively started government actions in conservation, and food safety, and was even the first president to invite a black person over for dinner at the White House, and, quite impressively for the time, did so on the logic of "Booker T. Washington's in town, and I liked "Up From Slavery," so I think I'll invite him over for dinner. And of course, he was a complete badass, and any Chuck Norris-style facts about him are likely to be only slightly exaggerated.
