Don't give to much significance to the 'blessed" word. How many times have you been "blessed" after sneezing? I don't get bent out of shape when that happens, bet you don't either (but I could be wrong). Hell, I even slip some times and say "bless you", but I try to add "said the atheist". However, I can't stand to be blessed in person, face to face. Especially if they know I'm an atheist. Telling me to "have a blessed day" I find totally offensive. Got one christer lady that tells me that every time I see her. I typically respond with "thanks for offending the atheist".

I like doing RAK's for PIF's. Makes me feel good. Grocery store is my favorite place to do them.
I don't mean to tell you how to feel or respond to people, but maybe you could save yourself a lot of bad energy if you think of being told to have a blessed day the same way you might think of being told may the force be with you or your call is very important to me so please leave your name and number. It's all bullshit based on fantasy so why let something somebody said determine how you will feel the rest of the day?
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

I may defend your right to free speech, but i won't help you pass out flyers.

Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.

Trust me, they in no way will ruin my day. Just a moment of mental "fuck you" and then it passes, like ether.

I note that horseshoes tacked on your wall provide good luck whether you believe in them or not, so I'm thinking blessings work regardless of the sincerity of whomever is conferring the blessing.

Excepting Pat Robertson, of course.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Oh, mental fuck yous do come in handy. Actually, when someone knows you are an atheist and they are disrespectful enough to say bless you, doesn't that amount to the same thing?

Yep. I believe that they (in my case she) don't have the mental capacity to know any better, to understand that it is disrespect, and think that they are helping me. I could take the time to try and make them see their error but for me, it's not worth the mental energy. Stupid is as stupid does.

I don't believe in blessings. I do believe some individuals are willing to make good gestures towards others.
